Ya, like I said before, Notre Dame has 4 jerseys and we are all worried about 3? A lot of teams have at least 3 jerseys. Throw in throwbacks and holiday jerseys some NBA teams have 5 or more jerseys.

Just clarifying on this cause I'm not sure. The Illini obviously have the blue and the orange jerseys both. I'm not sure which one is officially their alternate, I think a long time ago blue was road, but now the official road is orange, but either way they could not where the alternate one in the postseason?

On the surface, I thought it was great. Uniforms looked slick, crowd got into it and responded well, both big positives.

But once you think about it a little more, you realize Kirk's point in his column was a good one. This was nothing more than a cheap gimmick to get people in the seats. Which is a little more understandable for say... the BracketBuster game against a mostly unknown Drexel team, but the fact that we needed to pull this against our arch-rival and a team that is tied with us for third place in the Valley is borderline pathetic.

I'm not sure about this. When I was in high school, against our arch-rival we had a black out, even though black wasn't in our colors. We didn't get black uniforms, but still. We new the stands would be full anyway, especially compared to regular games, but we still thought it was a cool idea to get the crowd into the game and pumped up a little more. Not that they wouldn't have already, just a little something extra special for a big game. I think a lot of people would have been there for the ISU game anyway, and I thought it was a great promotion. If you can add a little extra to a rivalry game, why not? I wouldn't be as pumped for a blackout against Drexel, I was pumped because it was a blackout for ISU, much like the whiteout against a big opponent (MSU) was better than the one for Creighton. Bradley and Creighton while competing for spots, were not overly exciting teams this year to the casual fan. BU-ISU is always exciting no matter what.

In other words it was to emphasize how big the game was, more than try to create interest from scratch.

Black uniforms. Remove all the seats so EVERYONE has to stand up. Play the fight song more often. Get a new scoreboard. New mascot. New logo.
It's all whistling past the graveyard.

What we really need to return to the glory days are new cheerleader outfits! Oh ... and just maybe a horse or two inside so we can play with the big boys.

Bring the field house back and play in it.

yes, and as we go back to being a tradition-rich program, let's get rid of te 3 point arc, the electronic scoreboard, long shorts, and bring Cincy, Memphis and OK St back into the league.

I liked the black uni's. They looked good on TV. I say keep them and use them from time-to-time.

My pro baseball team (Atlanta Braves) has an alternate red jersey for Sunday home games, Wessler is just being an old lets not do anything different _art, it just gave him something else to write and complain about, I thought this team was about the players and fans and most thought it was great.

I was originally against them. While I am not totally sold on them, I didn't think they looked bad. I am against wearing them at home though. Home is for white uniforms.

Also, rather than black, I wonder if they would consider alternative gray uniforms for the road as well? Those are closer to the traditional 'red and white' IMO.

I like the alternate jerseys and I think that BU should pursue this further. I am and continue to believe that the whole "--fill in the color of your choice-- out" thing is getting old.

Yeah sure, and while we're at it bring St. Ambrose, St John's of Minnesota, Oshkosh St and all the other great teams we scheduled in the 70's.

haha too old for me. I just liked the feel of the field house. I was probably a minority of the students that was sad to see it go. Then again I tend to have more of an affinity to history than most others my age.

GREAT idea. Kind of like the road grey's in baseball. I always liked the White Sox grey uniforms much more than white or black. Has anyone seen our baseball roadies? I've seen the hat at the bookstore and I think it's probably the best looking one I've seen. The throwbacks from last year in grey would look sick.

are they as bad or do they also qualify as "bush league" according to the expert?

A lot of professional teams utilize alternate jerseys as well. T, the person you are referring to is not an "expert" but that person thinks he is an expert!
