  • 2010 MVC/MWC Challenge Opponent Update

Haven't seen this anywhere else and just came across it on twitter from BradleyHoops:

"B. U. Vs. Utah, unlv or new mex in mtn west challenge nxt yr, elgin sez."

All 3 would be quality opponents, although I don't know what each team loses after this year. I think I know who some would like to see..

All 3 would be good quality teams. They will likely be 3 of the top 4 teams in the MWC next year.

We get the game at home if I'm not mistaken right?

The MWC has THREE teams (UNM, UNLV, BYU) currently in the TOP 25 - something they have never had before...

UNLV has a very young team - just 1 senior on the roster who avg. just over 10 mpg. They could be a top 20 team next year - let's bring 'em into Carver and slow down the Runnin' Rebs!

I was fortunate enough to see the Runnin Rebs play in STL in the Sweet 16 a few years ago vs. Oregon. They keyed on Aaron Brooks and the even shorter guard took over the game and scored over 30 and rained three's from all over the court. The final score indicated the game was closer than it really was. Fun game to watch from what I remember

Butler/Florida was the early game and we snuck in enough booze for the entire section we sat in. Gotta say it's weird sitting in a mostly empty football stadium watching the Sweet 16 in what would be the endzone.

I just missed the Granger situation before coming to Bradley, but I would still like to see New Mexico come here. If for nothing else, we avoid going to the PIT anytime soon..

I would hope for UNLV first, then New Mexico followed by Utah. But no matter who we get it'll be a solid team (who could be ranked), from a good conference at home. This "challenge" is turning into a great thing in my opinion. Now we just need to get away from the BB.

Agreed I love the challenge. As far as bracket buster goes I think the MVC is very near the top of the conferences in it, but it does give us a chance to prove we're superior. If MWC and A10 would join then it would be a note worthy event.

Exactly. We have to prove we (the MVC) are better than the rest of the mid-major conferences before people will consider the MVC an elite, consistent, top 8 conference.

                        Fixed.
