JW has not returned phone calls from Dave Reynolds to talk about his situation and his upcoming "career" at BU.

JW will go across the country to visit a school that has no scholorships to give but he hasn't traveled two hours to see his future school / teammates play a game.

JW has never....to the best of my knowledge.....told anyone "on record" in the past 4-5 months that he is going to attend BU in the fall of 2010.

I will post a thousand I WAS WRONG messages on this board if JW ever puts on a BU uniform....
I hate to admit it but this is a smart post. Be great to get JW but seems unlikely based on the evidence. Hope us pessimists are all wrong. Most likely JW comes and is a flop! Now there is pessimism.

True BU has most everyone coming back.

Its also true most everyone coming back have had two-three years of middle of the MVC pack.

Since JW has not really given any signs of remaining in love with BU, no surprise if he goes elsewhere. Lets hope JP is up to leading BU in the post next year, AT finally grows up to provide backup, and, JL and company pull another rabbit out of their hats this off season with an Eglseder or VanDeest type player.

Note, the pickups JL and company have made late noted earlier, Salley, Wilson and Brown were not the answer to BU's post problems, or particularly dominant three point shooters.

Whelp. Im getting sick of all the bad news. I'm giving Les one year + some darn good recruits this spring to turn this program around. Then its time to start looking for a good coach who can recruit. At the end of this period you can no longer rely on one good season FIVE years ago.

As far as I can tell, Providence doesn't even have a scholarship for next year. This visit probably comes out of some contact Keno has in Iowa that suggested it, and I would bet JW does not end up at Providence.

As far as recruiting, let me assure everyone that Bradley is in on a lot of high quality kids right now for the 2010 class.
DC, I agree we need not panic until JW tells us we are not in his plans , but just because Providence has no scholarships available doesn't mean jack squat. We all know how one can become available in just a matter of minutes. So I'm not holding my breath on Providence not having an open scholarship. I still think we are in good shape with him but as my wife says, "I've been wrong before."

I've stated the same before Guinness. I love JL and think he was a good hire and has been great for BU but next year will be his defining year..... one way or the other.

BU can do better than that. He's not even the top assistant down there. JH could be our top assistant.

75% of the posters are in this camp, as am I! The others either would keep him fore life or let him go right now. For his sake he picks up someone who can REBOUND and play big. Imagine WE at the 4, TB-3, AW-2, SM-1 and a real 5 that can D up and rebound. The 5 would not have to be able to score, perhaps a few put back slams would be nice! The bench would be that much bigger with JP at the 4, EM/DSE/DD 1-2, MK -3, AT - 5 and when we play small WE is the 5! Imagine if JW is the real deal and a real 5 comes to town with him!

In my opinion he is the top assistant over there. Things have turned around since he came there. Also if you watch the games he is up coaching as much as Weber and you don't even notice McClain or Price or whoever the other coaches are.

Would absolutely LOVE to have Jerrance as the next BU head coach...one problem...

I believe he gets paid more as a U of I assistant than he would as a BU head coach...

It would be one heck of a boost to locals and Chicago if we landed someone of his caliber.

Re Jerrance Howard topic on this thread...I think that some of our problems are institutional. When we bring Howard's name into the discussion as an assistant, maybe we should take a look back to see what Illinois is paying a person who as some have said is not their top assistant. Does Bradley pay their assistants this well????

"Illinois rewarded Howard in May for his loyalty by increasing his salary by $60,000 to $180,000 and extending his contract through 2013. He also will receive a $50,000 signing bonus and a onetime payment of $75,000 if he completes the terms of the contract."

Former Illini point guard Jerrance Howard is now trying to drive recruits to Bruce Weber's team.

I don't think BU assistants are anywhere close to that.

That is my point... IMO,to attract a top assistant, we need to shell out some money to get into the market for a top caliber assistant. We need at least one top caliber assistant and I think the argument can be made for 2 new assistants. --again..not bashing the current staff---

And just like I said about MVC officials....

This is the State of ILLINOIS, isn't it? PAY TO PLAY, just like in politics...that's all.
