Me too. I was talking on the phone the last 5 minutes of the game with my Illini friend and he said Vitale talked during the game about all the good players that come out of Peoria. Big Win for the Illini 78-73. D.J. Richardson hit two big free-throws with about 15 seconds left and Illinois finished the game with a slam!

The rushing the court was lame but the most unnecessary thing was the dunk at the end.... Thats the best thing about the valley is the class of the coaches at the end of the games and just holding onto the ball. and yes i remember last year when CR shot that last second shot against Wichta and then got an ear full from Jim.

I'm an Illini fan when they're not playing BU and I was embarrassed to see the students rush the floor. I believe U of I is now one game back of MSU for 1st in the BIG 11 I mean come on you're at home that's a game that you should win no matter who you're playing. South Carolina over UK that's understandable this is not IMO."How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano

as I said elsewhere, Vitale was so unabashedly pro-Michigan State that I could have sworn I was listening to a cheerleader from MSU!!
Even while the Illini had the ball, were executing plays and scoring, Dickie V was droning on and on about some ridiculously inane or irrelevant issue regarding Michigan State...and they even had the camera on his face while the game was in play!!
Honestly, did anyone notice if they ever put the camera on Kalin Lucas??
Duh...of course they did, about 100 times...as if it was Willis Reed maybe limping out of the locker room to save the day ...
nevermind that Tisdale and McCamey have been playing through injuries...or that there are other teams who have lost their best player...
If for no other reason, I am glad that the Illini fans had a little fun rushing the court on national TV just to make Dukie V squirm and moan again...
ps-- btw whenever there's a BIG TEN game on national TV, did you note how few foul calls there were??
In the MSU-Illinois game (32 total fouls) and Wisky-Michigan game (25 total fouls) and even Minnesota-PSU (33), there are far fewer calls than in Valley games (over 40 fouls per game!! - see my other thread about the refs)

Two things...
1. I think Vitale is great for college basketball. He is a tremendous ambassador for the game, and he loves the game.
2. I wish BU could rush the court after defeating a top-level program. I would like to see that very much. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Mike Sanzere worked the game last night in Champaign. He averages 35.9 FPG in the MVC, and 43.0 FPG in the Big Ten.

Are you serious? Vitale gushed over the Assembly Hall atmosphere, calling it one of the best in all of college basketball etc., and and the fact that Illinois has a great recruiting class coming in next year and how much respect Izzo has for Weber. I thought he did a great job other than over reacting to the fans rushing the floor.
Of course you love to hate on people and things that aren't BU.
