Just like the American men, the heavily favored American women stumbled and lost to a lesser opponent in the semifinals of the World Championship.
The American women shot poorly, hitting only 27-70 (38.6%)
and only 8-22 on 3's.
Candace Parker had 13 pts, and led the team in rebounding with 8.
Team USA was outscored 21-6 in the 3rd quarter, and two of the US starters as well as the first four subs off the bench all played signifcant minutes but scored one or fewer baskets in the game.
