  • Coach Mo

I know Coach Mo would be the first to say he is a little disappointed in his team's performance this season, but consider this...

WIU is currently 9-13, and they play at home today for a chance to get their 10th win.
That doesn't sound too impressive, but recall they only won 9 last year then lost their top scorers...so Coach Molinari didn't know what to expect this year with virtually none of their scoring coming back...

Plus ....they still have several winnable games left - at least 5 more against teams whose RPI are in the 300 range...so they could conceivably still get to 12 or 13 wins.
That would give WIU more wins than in any year since 1998!!

But next year should be better -- their returning best scorer for next year is just now a sophomore, and 12 of their best 14 players (they lose a 9 ppg and 6 ppg scorer) will return next year.

I'm one of the few posters who believe we let Coach Mo go to soon! I'm really glad to see him do well. He is a class guy all around.

I can't say I was opposed to his dismissal, considering I thought it would be impossible not to compete for an MVC title with the talent he assembled on his last BU team. However, I had those feelings thinking we were hiring someone qualified for the job. In hindsight, it may have been a year or two too soon.

Mo was a class act. I always hate it when BU fires a coach. To me, they're like a member of the family.

Mediocre with him mediocre without him, kind of a push in my opinion.

Yup. One era couldn't score, other era couldn't defend. One era couldn't win on the road, other era couldn't win at home. One era could compete for league titles, one era couldn't. Pick your poison.

Are you satisfied with no league titles since 1996? Yes or No answer please.

Not sure why you say that. By canning Mo prematurely, we ended up with the untouchable, unchallengeable legend Jim Les. Had we not done that, JL may not be here and BU basketball would be dead.

I'm not but if I remember correctly the Valley was really horrible many of the years Slo Mo was competing for league titles.

Can somebody research that, I'm way to lazy to do it myself.

No way any of slow MO's teams could ever win a game in the NCAA Tourny.
