  • Something to brighten your day

    From the Sports Illustrated vault.

Notice how they have two non-conference wins over average Marquette and Villanova.

Thanks for the link! As a twenty-something BU fan, I had never seen it before. A few parts stand out as kinda funny to a younger fan...

    -"Versace (pronounced her-face)"
-Versace actually pulled the whistle off a referee and threw it into the stands?? Never heard that one before, wow!
    -Population of 124,000!
-"7 players from Chicago" (do we only have 1 now?)
-Massive Mike "lifted cars onto the sidewalk like coffee tables" in Italy...HUH?!?

That SI vault is a real time machine. I got stuck there a few weeks back reading BU articles from the 60's and 70's and darn near wasted the whole day!
Get Well Massive Mike! "Once a Brave always a Brave!"

If you search the SI vault under "Peoria" there is another Bradley article written by former Peorian Rick Telander that really show what BU basketball was about back in the day.

Larry Yamashita. One of the worst all time jobings given. Versace did some wild stuff, but the world of PC was much less back in Versaces BU days. Not everyone was given a trophy for showing up in the early 80's.

I believe in most european cities (When roads and alleys were designed for foot and/or horse traffic) people drive much smaller cars, it is just too dificult to park and fuel up cars we would call "normal". Now a days even small cars are larger, a 2009 Honda Civic might be larger than a 1985 Honda Accord...
