  • How to increase attendance

With five consecutive years of declining attendance, the University of New Mexico has decided they will just start giving tickets for their home games away free.
A year ago they began giving the tickets away free to the students themselves,
but now each student will be allowed to get FOUR EACH!!

Just to clarify, the other 3 are only if you have 3 other valid IDs of students (so one roommate can get tickets for everybody, for example). If the other tickets aren't for studnets, they're $10 each.

    It's still CHEAP though!

It will be interesting to see UNM's attendance figures after this upcoming season.

I'd like Bradley to enlist ticket pushers on campus before games. -- Maybe they already are, but they were not when I was a student.

But any student wanting four free tickets could easily find 3 other students who might not be planning on going, and use their ID's to get four tickets.

I was in ABQ for a little while. Back when Kenny Thomas and home-bred fave Olney were there. They had a very good team. They won a lot of games (mostly cream-puffs). They got national attention and ranking. Caught 2 games in The Pit while I was there. One was an ESPN Big Monday game versus TCU when they had Lee Nailon. It was the 97-98 season.

          THEY WOULD PACK THE HOUSE!

          And they would H-O-W-L!!!!!

VERY NEAT place to watch a packed house ball game. DEFINITE home court advantage. No wonder NC State felt the love in '83 (NCAA Championship in Abq that year).

With capacity of just over 18,000, they have averaged over 15,000 over the last 40 years (about 97% capacity).

Kinda pathetic to see the program has gotten so low to need to GIVE tickets away.

New Mexico's home average was stated to be a little over 13,000. But that's been declining, mostly drawn down by the numbers at some home games against terrible opponents like Dartmouth, Texas-Arlington, etc. They still list 11,000 at those games, but I have seen people say that the arena was half empty.
They need to schedule better home opponents.
