    geez...here we go again....

I don't ask that you agree with me or change your opinion, but why do you have to completely misquote me and claim I said something other than I said?

    Here is my exact post:

I said nothing about the people who vote on POY and rebounds or defense...those were not my words..
even so - you've produced nothing to even show a single rebound or stat of any kind - but I have said there were no mentions of deflections anywhere in the play-by-play and not even many rebounds...so go check and decide for yourself..

BUT, I have an extremely strong belief that those POY voters know nothing of the "deflections" stat....in fact, I doubt you could produce those numbers even if you tried for weeks...so how are 40 members of the press and staffs going to know all that?
But even if you disagree....that's fine with me, I would just like to get through a single thread without being completely misquoted

Deflections are part of defense. And you insinuated that people would not look at that.

Also, I never said I could produce those numbers. I asked YOU several questions.

Also, how many of ISU's games were under 10 points at the end?

Those might be things to look for.
      That was my original post.

Again, I do not care about O at all. I dislike everything ISU. It seemed to me that you were saying he had contributed nothing to ISU in crunch time. I was only ASKING if the play by play sheets indicated his "other" possible contributions.

the stats on deflections are extremely hard if not impossible to find let alone know-
thus the POY voters are not likely to know them..
that's all...I think you read wayyyy too much as "insinuating"

          I didn't insinuate anything actually.

I know many coaches, including Bradley's staff track deflections. I also know steals and rebounds are important too.

Now this, I, as well as most Redbird fans, would agree with.

All things considered I'd give a slight edge to Dinma IMHO however. But Phillips has been excellent all season too.

we are in agreement here - but do you know those numbers on deflections?
I sure don't and I have a strong suspicion that few if any on this board know them.
Would anyone who votes on POY know those numbers...that's my point??

If you are talking numbers on rebounds & steals, then those are kept in the play-by-play, and I have looked at all the play-by-plays and I am telling ...listen again...
Eldridge had very few useful or positive stats in the final 3 minutes of any game this season...
check youself see if you disagree...and as Jankovich and the Pantagraph writer said AND I QUOTED..
"Jankovich has taken him out of some recent games..."

...so since in a few recent games he isn't even on the floor some or much of the final 3 minutes, then I guess he must not be logging very many deflections or steals..

Sammy with a bunch of ridiculously clutch shots again!

13 pts in the last 3.5 mins and overtime.

If BU had won this one I'd say he took another step towards POY but now I don't know...

Danielle and Nacho are lost again

I am not a fan of King O but I think he probably has more basketball ability, athletic ability, and potential than anybody in the Valley. It is really sad that he never lived up to his potential. He could have gone down as one of the best.

The irony of the Osiris down year is that at the beginning of the year everyone thought ISU would be hurting next year because of the losss of Osiris. It looks like Dinma may be the biggest loss. If the Carmichael kid can jump in where Dinma had left off...ISU could be better than this year. I'm starting to believe losing Osiris next year wont be a big deal for the guys in Normal!

ISU loses Odiakosa, Eldridge, and Phillips after this year.
If they are going to be better next year than this year, then Jankovich should be crowned the second coming of John Wooden. Carmichael and Hill appear to be nice players...but that is a whole lot of talent that they are losing after this year...

I agree, if ISU is better next year than this year, Jankovice will be COY.
It's hard to find a team in the MVC that will lose more than ISU does after this season. The lose their top 3 scorers, 3 starters who lead the team in minutes played, and they will return nobody scoring more than 7 ppg. Alex Rubin will be the only player returning who shoots better than 30% from three (he's 38.8%, but with OE gone, I doubt he gets as many open shots). They also lose their top rebounder, and their top 2 assist guys.

It's sometimes possible to overcome major losses like those by scheduling down in the non-conference. The problem with that is that they can't schedule any weaker than they did this year.

Illinois State's non-conference Strength of Schedule this year ranks 347th out of 347 D1 schools- the absolute worst in the country!

Not saying ISU will be better next year but didn't many people say the same thing after losing Slack, Boo, and Dom Johnson 2 years ago? ISU did ok last year with those guys...

And the non-conference schedule may not have helped their early season but they have jelled quite a bit recently, winning two tough road games, one to complete a sweep of your braves

Not defending the terrible schedule at all- just pointing out facts

Talk about setting ourselves up well for an 2011 sweep. Didn't we learn from our famous summer time quotes.
