I went to school during the just say "NO" campaign of the Reagan years. Did it work, NO! I really want to know what the wisdom is spending all that money to have cops try to baby sit college age kids? I hate to say it, this is typical how the mid-west politicians handle things they have no idea on how to address. Let's just throw some muscle at it, enforce the hell out of it and who cares about the ramification or budget it effects. I loved BU and had fun in Peoria but I was so happy and those were years that are not even as policed as they are now to get out of that town. I bet you there are tons of other more dangerous drugs on campus that students are indulging due to this alcohol crack down.
Intelligent control would be wiser then a para-military state. Would I as an adult walking down the street with a brown bag drinking out of a container be stopped by the Peoria police?"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
??” Thomas Jefferson

Maybe people are right that the university needs to do a better job promoting the games for students. I just got this in my inbox:

Originally posted by DUBrave5 View PostI have to disagree with you, if you were to poll the student body, odds are the a majority would not know who Northern Iowa is let alone the fact that they are ranked. Now the common fan who follows college basketball may know that UNI is ranked, but the students that make up the student body, not so much. They'll only come if their friends drag them along.
I went to Pekin from 66-69 and back then the sectionals were played at the fieldhouse on a tues. wed. and the final on fri. night to sell out crowds of 7200, now they play elsewhere and are lucky to get that many fans for the whole 3 days, students just don"t go to high school games like they use to so they certainly are not going to go to college games , they just are not into sports like we are for whatever reasons.

I hope BU starts marketing the tourney soon. I know most kids at BU have at least one friend from the St. Louis area, and what college kid would pass on some good ole home cooking and a road trip? Too bad I'm gonna be 4 days away from the big 21 or I'd be splurging on a hotel downtown."How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano

I think the student section should get more creative...it's not just about the basketball that brings students to the game..it's about the feeling of it. If it's more fun to be there rather than just standing and watching more people would come. JMO. I've got some ideas if anyone was interested. I feel like one could get on espn just because....lets just put it this way....getting very creative during opponent free throws is always a +
