I mean people (not in the student section) don't even clap to the cheers...they literally do absolutely nothing.
I was in the upper bowl and could hear the players talking on the court....
THAT'S where our home court advantage went. Carver is boring. The loudest it got during the game was whenever bradley lost the lead so they were negative sounds...that is until the very end.
Man was I bored. Wayyyyy too quiet. Pathetic is the only word for it.
While I agree the crowd was bad but if you can hear the players on the court that's something else. I sit behind the scorer's table about 4-5 rows up and I rarely hear the players

Heres what I would like to see done! I would like to see BU and the Chief Club go together on the before game parties. Involve the students Right now I have stopped going to them because they are soooooo boring Just a bunch of mid to old age people sitting around tables talking about everything but BU BB! Its a social hour and if it were not for the free beer they wouldn't show up either! No atmosphere at all Theres more action in the city morgue Really the food you buy there sucks! The nacho chips and popcorn are OK! The beer and soda are great! But there is no music, no excitement in the air, nothing to pick up the fans, just plain boring The ONLY ONE that I can remember that was any fun at all was when Illinois was here. There was a band playing, free dogs and chips, cheerleaders and it was open to the students Maybe we need more like that and include the students Maybe not a party every game but for a good % of the home games.
Have the Chiefs Club before game party be for its members and Students Have a band, free food (dogs, chips or what ever) free soda, the cheerleaders & dancers and maybe a X player there. Make it something fun and something not to miss! Pay for it by charging $1.00 per beer
Heres what it would be for the students: Free ride to and from the game, free food and soda, a band to listen to, a pregame atmosphere, and a free ticket to the game! Come on Man

Do they still do the 5 dollar, pregame food + shirt (or towel or whatever game trinket it was at the time) and a game ticket thing anymore? I thought that was the deal there for awhile, all done downtown so you just walked over to the arena for the game. Think it started at 5:30 maybe? - not sure who's idea it was, or how much of it was school funded, but it was advertised quite a bit. Also not sure it was 5 bucks, but it wasn't pricey that is for sure.Sungani umoyo womseko na wokonda waumbiri anznga.

Wow, it really is a shame how far it's obviously come.. Guess the drinking parties we used to throw in the hallway on Williams 2 way back in those "halcyon days" of 1999-2000 wouldn't survive today... That was so long ago, apparently. It was a good time and we didn't have cars to drive anyway, so nobody was going to get hurt (and nobody really ever did). It's like SFP says, if you make it "bad," it will be bad. Make it illegal and people will push the limits as far as possible to break the rules. It's too bad really, and everyone would be better off if the rules were reasonable and well understood rather than designed to trap someone with a ticket.

Btw, I don't think pregame activities should push or avoid alcohol either way. Provide free food and you'll get as much of an underclassman response as you want. Someone suggested that the Braves Club should permit students for the free food... I think that's a GREAT idea.

I have read only a few posts and can respond to some of them.
The new "administration" is, obviously, coming down very hard on the alcohol issue. I'm assuming it happened due to a number of tragic incidents that happened when the prez first started. They released statistics saying that the number of hospital visits were down and the average breathalizer readings for people underage being ticketed was also down...that was last year. At the beginning of this year I heard from a fairly good source that the amount of hospital visits, stomach pumpings, and things of that nature had skyrocketed compared to previous years. Obviously that isn't going to be released by our PR..i mean...our prez. Bottom line there is a strangle hold on BU students. It's become a place for worrying anytime you want to drink even when you are over 21. I had a cop in street clothes chase me down one night when I was carrying a water bottle (which was filled with water). I didn't know he was a cop and it scared the crap out of me. It's ridiculous. It's to the point where it's embarrassing to have any friends from other schools come visit because there isn't a big party to go to unless you are greek which even now those are registered for the most part. Did you know they give out tickets to over 21 yro's at a party if underage people are drinking? It's d-u-m-b. They should be worried about protecting the students and Peoria not about drinking tickets. Not only that...the SOBER people have gotten tickets before also JUST FOR BEING IN ATTENDANCE!!! Do these people know parties are SAFER when sober people around to make sure things don't get too crazy. Now all they are doing are preventing people who don't drink or don't want to drink on a given night from going to parties because they don't want to risk it. Therefore it gets even more rowdy! Wake up people and use your brains! Let college students be college students! You're an id**t if you think you are going to stop or even slow college drinking because you put on a late night BU every month. Please . Which, by the way, students come to drunk sometimes anyway. Latenight BU has become so boring it's the only way to tolerate it! haha
As a disclaimer I can honestly say I've never done that though.

The problem I have with them cracking down on college parties is it seems like it is only happening at BU, college kids party on the weekend and as long as they are not driving after they have been drinking it should not be a problem, just because some kids did irrational things after they had been drinking you should not penalize everyone else because of it.

The other issue kids will always find ways around these tactics. Breathalyzer sure do not take into account other pharmaceuticals. I'm also wondering why there was an increase of hospital visits and stomach pumping? There is more to the trend then just alcohol. Pushing it completely underground will come to no good. As one poster said, the students will probably just head on down the highway to find a good party. It's what kids that age do. It's what they always did."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

The thing kinda just steamrolled into what it is now. It is also made much worse by the atmosphere and the relationship between the local and state police and the student body. it used to be, that bu pd at least took a more relaxed tone to drinking - if you were going home, respectful, not being rowdy, indoors, not at all in a car or appeared to be going to a car, etc. they would let you pass - that has changed, and really hasn't been the policy for a number of years now. It was nice to know that when you registered a party on campus, you were fairly certain the police would not show up, that is commonly not the case anymore, or wasn't for my last two years. Especially between fraternities and the police, the attitude quickly became "Us vs. Them". to the point where i know it was common for my later years at school, for huge portions of the student body to leave campus and head to ISU, or Illinois, for weekends when the task force was known to be in town - which as you would imagine kinda caused a great deal more drunk driving.
Of course if one walks right in front of my car and gets hit, I'm the one who would get charged with manslaughter! I think there needs to be some sort of middle ground here though in how this underaged drinking is enforced.

That should be a sell out as well as the ISU game, but I bet you see a drop in students after the ISU game.

What a stupid move to ticket the non-drinkers! I thought I heard it all until this!
