Sam played like that go to guy we need tonight. Just took over the game down the stretch! As JL said though...he hits those freebies and we win this one a little easier!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.
Sams the man. Definitely been one of the hottest players this Valley season and has really developed some nice shot fakes to get some open looks. I havn't calculated the total but I believe he is shooting about 55% this Valley season. If he had the supporting cast that shot 40% or better, he would be putting up double double points/assists almost every game. Really need him to shoot more, his shot has been on the last month.
Sam has played at a very high level since he recovered from his ankle injury, I said last night if we could get Andrew to get after it like Sam and DSE he would be putting up better numbers and we would be hard to beat.
congrats Sam. Here's hoping you get 1000 more points!
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
If he reaches 1,500 points, where would that rank Sammy among BU's all-time scoring list?
Here is a list of the top 25 (from march, 2008 ), and with 1,500 career points, Sam would rank #12 all-time, right ahead of Marcellus Sommerville (who only played 3 years).-
1. Hersey Hawkins............3,008
2. Mitchell Anderson..........2,341
3. Roger Phegley...............2,064
4. Chet Walker..................1,975
5. Paul Unruh....................1,822
6. Joe Allen......................1,763
7. Voise Winters................1,714
8. Phillip Gilbert..................1,689
9. Anthony Parker..............1,683
10. Gene Melchiorre............1,608
11. L.C. Bowen..................1,516
12. Marcellus Sommerville.....1,493
13. Deon Jackson...............1,491
14. Rob Dye......................1,453
15. Jim Caruthers...............1,425
16. James Gillingham...........1,416
17. Al Smith......................1,408
18. Bob Carney..................1,355
19. Jeremy Crouch...........1,264 *
20. Bobby Humbles.............1,262
21. David Thirdkill...............1,261
22. Luke Jackson................1,252
23. Curtis Stuckey..............1,248 (only played 2 seasons)
24. Daniel Ruffin................1,243 *
25. Bobby Joe Mason...........1,229
*Crouch and Ruffin's numbers need a slight adjustment, as this list was from March of 2008 when both players still had games left to play.
he might reasonably expect to still have maybe 10 games left this year plus at least 30 next year,
and if he averages 15 ppg, then he will get to 1500 for sure, and maybe lots better
