  • Basketball Trivia Question

What event happened on February 2, 56 years ago that has never been equalled in all of college basketball history..and nobody has even come close?

    Bevo Francis- 113 points

If you followed sports in the early 1950s then you probably have heard the name Clarence “Bevo” Francis. However, to most of America his name and legend are an unknown part of sports history. Quite frankly, he was the most prolific basketball scorer of his time.

I'm not sure of the date but I know it was in 1954 that Bevo Francis made a name for himself. 108 points or something like that? I don't think anyone has ever come close to matching that.

              T,

Thought at first you may have been referring to the largest lead to start a game surrendered in NCAA Div I MBB, but that was in 1977.

I was recovering in Proctor Hospital from flag football knee injury (dreaded Owls Nest team) and will never forget listening to that game. The pain of that loss was worse than my knee surgery!

I still remember that night well.......was on a vacation in Las Vegas that nite in 1977, and can still remember going over to the betting area and checking on the BU score and seeing that they were ahead by like 28 points....
only to find later after a nice night on the town that they had lost...
oh well I guess it would have been worse had I been at the game, but having a pretty nice time on vacation back then softened the blow........
