And it's a lot easier for the BCS to walk if they get all their conferences to 12 members.

Hence the Big 10's ploy to go to 12.

It all adds up! Conspiracy theory!

Love it but where there is smoke there is fire. That is why BU needs to get all its ducks in a row because when the ball starts rolling it will be fast and furious and those that are not taking the initiative will be left behind. It is just the way the world is going and it has nothing to do with tradition. BU is in a tricky spot without football and being small but it does have the fan base and the revenue potential to land in the right place. Take no chances with this is what I say and when opportunity knocks BU needs to grab it with both hands.

BU, and everyone not in a power conference for that matter, has to wait for the Big East to play their cards. They are the fulcrum in everything.

The tricky thing is no one knows what will trigger this all.

Could be the Big 10's expansion.

Or could be the government making regulations to the BCS bowls.

Or could be this expansion to 96.

Any one of the three things can trigger college armageddon.

Big X realignment 1st followed by Pac X then Big 12 teams that are left heading to other conferences and Big East doing what they need to do to stay on top.

ACC - does not need to do anything but protect themselves from anyone leaving.

Big X Can use 3 more teams possibly grow to 16 and be a real powerhouse. Imagine a conference that adds Pitt, Syracuse, Missou, Kansas, and K-St.

Pac X tries to add BYU, Utah, Colorado and another wild card...

SEC keeps its core adds Texas and Oklahoma

Big East with the the remaining 6 football school would have to start poaching big time to stay relevant.

I just do not see The Big East waiting for the other shoe to fall before they react. Things will be moving at light speed and I expect to see one if not 2 majors to be severely poached and from all that another conference forms with those two forming a football only conference. Now that leaves room for a pretty good basketball only conference with some weight that maybe able to compete financially with the big boys. With all the money that the networks will be throwing out there you can bet that there will be some interesting parties in how this unfolds.

Oh, forget about Hatch doing anything because BYU and Utah will be part of the BCS.

I thoroughly enjoy this topic. It is the only one where if a thread comes up about it I HAVE to read every post.

I also find it fascinating... I kind of remember when the last wave of dominoes fell, but I wasn't as big of a fan of college sports then, so I didn't pay as close of attention as I would have liked to have now.
