  • Wessler article

I'm no journalism major, but was that article poorly written? What is he saying? He seems very sarcastic at times, then serious at times. I can't figure out where he is going with it. If he is trying to make some sort of point, it was completely lost on this reader.

Think Phil Theobald's- "My mother always told me, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" blank page column from years ago.

      Seemed mostly sarcastic to me.

I guess his point is that how can anyone define this season as being salvageable anymore.

The only good comments about the BU team were the typical politically correct comments coming from the opponents after winning.

I don't care what anyone else says or writes. I'm not a puppet and can form my OWN opinions.

I usually can get the jist of what he's saying but I'm kinda lost on this one...either way though, it doesn't matter. Like I said, I can SEE whats going on for myself.

I will say this....I DO think he might be reading the boards too much and that it MIGHT be influencing what he writes. I don't know if thats good or bad and I could even be way off with that line of thinking..I dunno.

Don't think this was one of his better pieces but just becuase I can't figure it out doesn't mean it was poorly written or that others didnt get it.

AGAIN, it doesn't matter. We can all form our OWN opinions about this season, BU and all involved.

I just hope they get it straightened out soon.....BU hasn't lost my support its just tough times now and if you accept the good times you gotta be there during the rough times also.

        GO BU.

IMO, it was 100% sarcasm, and directed at people on bulletin boards who accuse him of being too negative.

I was just about to say that article was directed solely at this board for the most part. He's entitled to that opinion of the team, especially after yesterday's game, though I wish he wouldn't be so smarmy towards the people here who have an opposing view of him.

But I say let's prove him wrong by rooting Bradley onto a strong finish. THEN and only then will he be made to eat his words!

Think of all the aspiring writers out there who read this article and will tell themselves, "I CAN WRITE BETTER THAN THAT!.

This article doesn't need any explanation.
                Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I'm surprised he even mentioned that we could make ISU look just as bad here. That was kind of contradictory to the point he was making in his article!

There have been times where he has been too negative and too personal towards JL. A pouty article doesn't change my opinion on that.

do we ever get tired of complaining about the journal star and its writers? maybe we need not to be so thin-skinned and focus on what is needed to be a better basketball team.

I went with a group of ten. On the drive back, we talked about what Wessler could write about. Nobody had any good idea. You can't keep writing about lack of interior defense or rebounding. The unforced errors or missed opened shots by the Braves isn't new news on the road. I thought he would write about the crowd and student section to try and fire up the people in Peoria.

I wish Les would have cleared the bench much earlier. You could tell that this group wasn't going to mount a comeback.

On a different note, I found it amusing that while listening to Snell during the "Redbird massacre" that he mentioned the Texas score. He sarcasically noted that Texas had just lost their second game in a row and how they must have a "mediocre" program. Haven't we heard that word thrown around here one too many times? I think he was making a "statement" when he made that statement. Seems somebody else might be a "BradleyFan".

They are all big boys and should be able to take it as much as they dish it out. It seems that KW is the one being "thin-skinned" here.
