Well, it depends if you want to be proactive or reactive, if you want to win right away, and how long you want to rebuild. If you make a move after this season, you run a much lower risk of having significant departures. None of the core of the team are going to leave because they either don't have much time left (SM, AW, DD all seniors), and/or don't want to sit out another year (TB, WE, AT, JP). I still believe there's talent enough to compete for the title next year, so we'd still have a legitimate shot at success. Plus, making a move after this year allows a coach to start recruiting right away for his 2nd season when SM, AW, and DD are gone. If you wait until after next year, you're left really rebuilding almost from scratch. With the right hire it might only take a year or two (see Missouri St), but it could be minimized or eliminated altogether if you make the move after this year. You minimize the 'rebuilding' time with the right hire...and the rightly timed hire.

Great minds think alike Garland. He would be my first choice as well.

(UNC is getting blown out AT HOME against UVA. I wonder if they're starting these kinds of threads about Roy on the Carolina message boards? )

I wrote most of it before the game, but sadly, I had a pretty good idea what the outcome of the ISU game would be. That game wouldn't have made any difference to the article, unless we pulled it out somehow.

I just like to get people thinking... so many posters want JL's head, but nobody has a better option. It gets a little old.

I agree that Mark Montgomery will have a head coaching job soon, and will probably be an excellent skipper. I wouldn't fire JL just to get him, because there are no guarantees... If JL had an assistant like Montgomery, we might not be having this discussion.

I agree that part of JL actions to take his coaching to the next level is in how he re-builds his coaching staff after the season. It's not about him be able to do everything single-handedly.

I know he is not a 'Bradley guy', but I would settle for Roy Williams if he becomes available!!

Hey, at least we know our outgoing seniors would get nice gifts as a "thank you" from the program...

Hell I'll throw an interesting name out. Tracy Webster there is a lot of doubt that he will be considered at the end of the year to become Depaul's head coach. He is atleast making Depaul competative and might be the kind of steal the Braves could use. Just my to cents although I would hate to see Les go.

Webster has a good Chicago recruiting name (good or bad) but I don't think he will be a head coach next year anywhere.

The Demons are still 1-5 under Webster, including blowout losses at home to Providence and West Virginia, and a 20-point loss on the road to a St. John's team that is 2-6 in the Big East.

I'm not so sure... Do we really know how good some of these coaches are when they don't have all McDonald all americans on the team along with all 5 star players including the bench. Roy Williams is not winning with 100% McDonald all americans and all 5 star players (even the freshman are all considered super stars)

Well, he already had this opportunity two years ago with high quality applicants and he squandered it every which way. I don't really have the confidence that he knows what he needs, and much less do I think the quality people we need will want to attach themselves to a sinking ship.

College Insider.com listed several successful Mid Major Asst Coaches last summer. Matt Graves with Butler, Leon Rice of Gonzaga and Jayson Gee of Cleveland State have interesting backgrounds. Wonder if they might be interested in a head coaching job at BU?

I will throw this out there just like I have mentioned before... It also will fit right in with the name of this thread..

If Les is Less, Who is More?

                              How about Howard Moore????

Assistant @ Wisconsin University. Been there for a while under a very successful Head Coach. He has great ties to Chicago as well as the state of Illinois. Plus, he knows all about Bradley since he was here under Molinari and I believe a year under Les....

I think this would be a good move, any thoughts?
