I had hope for making a run in the tour. but reality says we do not have a true center to go up against the best teams centers in the league (UNI,ISU,Creighton and Wichita ST.) , our starters would have to play way too many minutes in 3 or 4 games to be effective so we have little chance of challenging for the tour. title.
Next season we will have a good starting lineup but very little help off the bench unless we get some big time recruits.

How do we defend JL and the progress of his program now?

We need a bench that can contribute more then 7-8 points a game as our starters are having to play way too many minutes.
We need a shooter and a big bruiser type guy off the bench IMO. Dodie can hopefully be that shooter next year, I'd like to see us get a JUCO bruiser type guy. I also thought AT looked like he was playing harder, albeit he was only in 2 minutes, but maybe we should see what he can do down low now.

At the end of the day, maybe it isn't just about coaching. JL could be the best coach in the world, but if he and his staff aren't successful recruiting talent, or enough talent, perhaps time to try and find someone who can...

Dismal. Embarrassing effort and performance in what is supposed to be a huge, rivalry game.
I guess Wessler was right, afterall, when he said better things aren't ahead. I guess a lot of people on this board now owe him an apology for suggesting that he owed them an apology for having that opinion.
Guess the Kool-Aid crew had their own "knee-jerk reaction" to that fluke of a three game winning streak that we were on...Ooops.

AMC,
Just
Some of us JL should be on thin ice crowd have a sense of humor!
You are probably correct. All the pro and anti JL posters at the game are probably still out drinking their sorrows away right now, and not Kool Aid!

As I wrote a little bit ago ... this team simply isn't that good.
Throw the blame game wherever you want - that's for all of you to decide, I try to stay out of that. There's no depth and we don't have a single player who can defend a powerful guy like Odiakosa in the post.
Combine that with one of the worst shooting performances I've seen in a long time (5-28, 17%; 1-11 3PT, 9.1%) in the second half, and that's how you get a blowout.
50-28 on the boards after destroying Creighton on the glass again proves that rebounding is not necessarily about size, but about desire.
Sadly this team never looked like it ever had a chance to win today.
Most important point to make, especially on a message board that is so divided these days: Bradley is never as good as it looks in victories (Ill, vs. MSU, at SIU) and is equally not as bad as it looks on the rough games (at MSU, at ISU). What you have is a very average team that has hovered around .500 the entire season and will stay there the rest of the way.
And being average is more frustrating than anything, which is really what gets people riled up. You see this team put up great performances and you might think it could be a contender for the top of the Valley. But then you see games like today and you see all of the deficiencies.
Bradley doesn't do anything well on a consistent basis. We have games where we rebound well, shoot great, minimize turnovers, knock down FTs, play lockdown defense. But when it really comes down to it, not any one of these (except for maybe free throw shooting in conference play) is something we do really well on a game-in-game-out basis. So, that's why you have the ups and downs.
If the team was lousy, fans could understand that and root hard for them to overachieve. Similarly, nobody ever has trouble with a team that is a winner. But the roller coaster ride is what gets everyone so angry.
I don't have the solutions but that's what I see.Go Braves!

we disappeared because we were in Bloomington and then had the drive back...
and since when is it the fans' job to defend anything...I am a fan of the program, I am unapologetically supportive and if you need to complain go right ahead...
