  • Comcast forcing digital

This isn't directly related to basketball but is somewhat on topic since Bradley has a big package with Comcast. Comcast is forcing all cable customers to switch to digital cable. The transition is just starting and you have to go to the Comcast website to request your new cable boxes. Your allowed 3 free boxes and then charged an extra fee after that. It says service charges is an extra fee, so i'm betting their is a hidden charge for Comcast to bring the boxes out and get them hooked up. I'm also quite sure they will jack up our bill another $10 or so, GRRRRRRRRR.

The local channels will stay in analog format so for those with the Tivo Series 2 Dual Tuner, you will only be allowed to record 1 digital channel and 1 basic channel at the same time, instead of 2 analog channels like before.

The below link will get you started....

We really need to get more games on TVP or maybe even one of the random other channels like WB or AOE.

Comcast is such a pain in the ass to deal with on all levels.

I thought I heard Comcast was just going to be doing the digital push in Chicago, not here. (And that FAQ only mentions Atlanta) Eventually, cable systems will have to make the digital conversion. not because of any law, just competitive pressure. If they do nothing then all the high-end subscribers will go to satellite or FIOS or ATT U-Verse... Analog cable service does not leave enough bandwidth for all the HD channels (1 analog = 2 or 3 HD channels)

Yeah maybe it is only in the bigger cities, i'm not sure. I only found out about it because Tivo customer service sent us an e-mail announcing the Comcast changes and what we had to do with our Tivo box. Kind of a pain really lol.

The changes to all digital packaging is company wide. It is taking place to upgrade everyone's homes to be ready for some exciting new changes that are coming soon. Comcast's focus is on making content available anytime, anywhere online and on Demand. These new changes will be introducing an exciting new era in customer choice, interaction, control, and experience. By using all digital formatting, there is room for more HD channels as well as more On Demand digital and HD programming.
