It is not blind faith, it is an opinion just like yours. You are the person that said a good year next year would still be bad for the program. Stop ignoring the quesiton, which of the reasons in my post leaves you no hope for NEXT YEAR!!!! Not the last 8 years, next year, what of the reasons is incorrect for hope????

No, you are right. Needing contacts, glasses, or lasik? Maybe.

I am sorry, but you cannot just blindly forget about the last 8 seasons. If we are blindly forgetting the last 8 years, then you have to do the same. I don't think you can honestly say that the Sweet 16 year has nothing to do with your optimism, regardless of all the 'what ifs' you may state. Simply put, if we don't have history to help us predict the future, then what are we going on? Blind faith.Onward and Upward!

I meant in terms of development. They were the same players, but they all got better by the next year. It was an example, I am not saying we are going to the final four next year obviously. But I'm saying we won't be the same team, we will develop and be better by next year even though we have the same players. That is what i meant if you misinterpreted it.

Part of your optimistic assessment for next year includes a hope that next year will be the year that "AT and EM blossom"...Why would you reasonably expect this? AT has been here 3 years now, and is playing 0 minutes per game. I think it may be time to turn the page on that notion that he is going to blossom into some sort of contributor next year. EM is similar...I think he can be a serviceable backup...but he has zero offensive skills, has regressed from his freshman to sophomore years, so I'd say that a 'blossoming' of some sort from him next year is fairly unlikely...
I agree that some guys will naturally develop and are likely to improve next year...the younger guys that are actually getting minutes this year...Egolf, Brown, DSE, and maybe Eastman...
But Milos? I don't know what to expect...he is getting walk-on minutes now...so I don't know that we can just assume he's going to go from 0 to a solid contributor simply because we turn the calendar over to next year...
We'll see how it all goes...but I really see the same team showing up next year...A team with a lot of talent in the starting 5, but absolutely nothing off the bench...Really hard for me to twist that same team into a Valley title contender next year...

It is a process that happens every year to a lot of players. Players develop, thats how a 4 year process goes. And AT and EM I said could blossom as in that it would be an extra bonus type deal not that they for sure would, but I see reasonable development in all those other players and I think it will make a huge difference. Just my opinion though.
The bench isn't deep this year because 4 guys on it are freshman (including JP) which development will help with them. Potentially (not for sure) add in JW and even at current standards AT and EM. People have argued whether we are young or not all year, but our bench IS young, you can't debate that and I think that is the problem this year. The difference between freshmen and sophomores is usually pretty big, but you are right we will see. But if those 4 freshman can develop at all plus throwing in EM and AT as serviceable backups our bench looks deep and experienced along with a starting 5 that is already talented and developing with a another year under their belts. JW would be a bonus on top of that as well. I just think all that looks pretty good to me, so I choose to be optimistic.

Although I really thought Illinois football was going to be good this past year and that was wrong....

I know the whole point of this thread (and the many others that are started ad nauseum after every loss) are designed as a way to "pile on" Les and the Braves and to justify why he should be fired. If it makes everyone feel better about their wittle self then that's fine with me.
Bottom line on Les: He's going to be here through the end of this year. Most likely, he's going to be here next year as well. Most of us (who are reasonable) have said that Les will be judged on the team's performance NEXT year. Anything above a top 3 Valley finish next year and he stays; below and he's probably gone. The same for the year after that, IMO. I think Les will essentially be on a year to year probationary basis after next year (assuming next year is a top 3 finish). If the team slips up and finishes poorly he will most likely be gone.
Let's just accept the fact that Les is our coach and probably will be our coach for another year. I'd suggest to those that don't like the reality of this to take a different approach to "the problem". Rather than start the same old tired multiple "Fire Les" threads with a slightly different title try writing a letter to Glasser and Cross. Send them e-mails. Write letters to the editor. You'll find, I think, that this might be much more successful and give you the much needed satisfaction and justification that you desire. Because let's face it. You won't get it from the majority on Bradleyfans.com. To us your just a nuisance...... like a fly on a horses @ss.
