    explain to me how......

    1. BU plays a zone until there is less than 10 minutes to go when the other team is hitting 12 threes on you!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. BU has one possession with a chance to take the lead and uses less than 6 seconds off the shot clock.

    3. BU has 3 possessions from about 1:30 left to about :30 left, while trailing only by 3...and all we shoot are wild, off balance 3's when CU was giving us the layup on all 3 plays

    4. BU cannot play 40 minutes of bball in a game.

And while shooting those out of rhythm off balance 3s we keep two TO's in our back pocket. I'm a big fan of JL's but I really feel he let this one slip away. Oh well what's passed is passed learn from it and take out the frustration on isu.

If you save 15 needed timeouts throughout the season... you can trade them in for an automatic game on ESPN 2 the following year.

Pick your poison: Lawson from 2-4 feet out, who shoots 53% or the Jays wings who shoot something like 28% from trey in MVC games. This is no offense to Egolf or Singh, but one on one, Lawson is going to eat those guys alive.

I can understand the idea of trying to make Creighton's wings beat ya from distance. They came into the game shooting under 30% from trey.

I am not sure what possession you are talking about, but what is a bad shot selection? Just because only 6 seconds was off the shot clock, doesn't mean it was a bad shot selection. There is no guarantee running more shot clock gets you a better shot either.

I'd be careful saying there is no offense to Egolf...I think your birds will see some Saturday.

That's fine. He will get his 8 and 5.

All I am saying is: Without that zone, Lawson goes for more than the 16 he had.

Don't take that as a swipe on Egolf (though I know you will ). Think of it more as a compliment to Lawson

That's right...Egolf, Sammy, Taylor, Andrew, and company will be showing you some offense that you won't be able to handle on Saturday, and the Birdies will be below .500 in the Valley at the end of the day...BOOK IT

I get the zone, AT THE START, because it was playing the %'s. However, after they keep making them you have to adapt.

The possession I am talking about late in the game did not include a shot. We ran down the floor 2 on 3 and made a horrible, off-balance, pass to a man who had 3 defenders on him....it was a quick turnover

I was explaining to a friend BU's tendency to give up leads and play close but just not enought this year. He said that they must be tired at the end of games. It made me think so I did a little math for average minutes played per starter. I did the 4 games where we have lost leads and the CU came

                  WCU 23 BU 30.4
                  LOY 29.2 BU 30.2
                  SIU 28 BU 31.4
                  InSU 25.8 BU 35.8
                  CU 23 BU 31.8

Average: Guest 25.8 Min Per Starter BU 31.9

It would be nice to get 10 to 15 min out of EM MK AT. I like Sammy with a wide open three to tie a lot better if it was not his 36 minute.

Thanks for running the numbers. The lack of quality depth is hurting BU. The odd part against Creighton is that they played with more energy as the game went on.

Usually, you can see a difference in the defense between halves. Bradley stops overplaying and trying to jump passing lanes in the second half. The opposing offense doesn't have to work so hard at the beginning of their set. That didn't come into play against CU because of the zone.

I hate charges, but it is obvious that they like to call them in the Valley. Egolf was taking them for awhile with some success. It seems like it is a weapon that you have to use since BU doesn't block shots and decent defense many times get called for fouls.

I don't believe fatigue has anything to do with it. These are well conditioned 21 year olds who get a 15 minute break, 8 media timeouts, and 5 other timeouts. There is very little difference between playing 32 and 36 minutes a night.

Fair point. But they are guarding and being guarded by 21 year olds averaging 26 min a night. I assume they are well conditioned too.

Yes. But most teams have good players playing over 30+ minutes. Creighton is that exception. I don't want to give 10 minutes of Sammy to someone else just so he can be 10 minutes "fresher" at the end. Those 10 minutes count too.

                            Um. Okay.

I will admit I was wrong about him getting his 8 and 5 though.
