Actually I just registered for the board yesterday. I have already been kicked off the board in the past. So it's kinda hard to post when some people feel you aren't allowed. If admitting to that leads me to getting kicked off again, I'm sorry--see you later
actually, since you brought it up and other posters should know, you have been banned numerous times for flaming and other rules violations, but we are quite forgiving here.
BTW- You also still have multiple other active registrations that you must have forgotten about.

Da Coach--you know I never "flamed" anyone. I don't do that. I don't attack personally. I don't rip on people personally. I've seen a lot of worse stuff go on here but no big deal. I feel I was banned based on difference of opinion or some personal stuff that is wildly off base. But I understand the moderators can do what they wish with posters. It's their board, not mine. If I do something considered "flaming" or a "personal attack" please let me know specifically what it is. I gaurantee I do not do that.
How can I have active registrations if they are banned? If you honestly don't want me here just say so. I'm a big boy. I can take it. I won't ever come back. It won't affect my love for BU hoops.
I would be glad to have used one that I had. I thought it was banned, however. If I am wrong that is my honest mistake. I was not intentionally trying to post under different user names. I apologize if that was what you thought the intent was. I'm not a computer whiz so I'm not exactly sure how it all works.
No censorship, just expectations that people abide by the rules. And please don't rebut or debate the decisions of moderators on the board, as that is also against the rules.
How can I have active registrations if they are banned?
Not all of your previous entities have been banned. Several still exist as active registrations. You have had so many, you must have forgotten several.
Coachdude--read up in the thread. This was the discussion Da Coach and I had. He claims BU doesnt have a home court advantage because of the lack of practice time there.
I noted that no evidence backs this claim up. Plenty of teams (including Bradley during the mid 1990's) enjoyed immense home court advantages and have really incredible home winning percentages despite not being able to practice at the arena they play in.
Creighton, Villanova, Georgetown, and Marquette are four schools that come directly to mind.
Generally if you have a really good team you have a good home court advantage. It has nothing to do with how often you practice there.
Hey just had the time......sorry bout that....I am sorry to disagree though...there is a small effect on not being able to practice where you play....it just makes sense....where you going to shot better...where you practice every day or where you play once a week or so...common sense....
It exists in all kinds of sports, and in sports less fickle than basketball. It has more to do with mentality than anything else. It is an attitude, confidence, and how you view your team in my opinion.
Regardless of how much the Braves practice at Carver Arena, they PLAY there way more than any of their opponents. Plus I think the fans have something to do with the home court advantage too. In fact I think the fans play a bigger part than the venue.
Well I'd be glad to start a thread on a way of regaining the home-court advantage but that also would turn into mud-slinging, he said, she said, hair pulling type of thing.
I'll offer my point of view anyway
1. If the folks at Carver are not allowing their number 1 tenant the ability to improve themselves on their court then BU should consider alternatives. I know quite a few here will say Carver is fine but if it does not give us the ability to have a true home-court advantage then screw them.
2. I'd believe home-court advantage would be much easier to achieve if the students had better seats just like Michigan and other fine programs do. After all college bball should be for the folks who are there and alumni need to learn to take a bit of a back-seat. They had their time. Now to have that atmosphere and still get the fat cats to donate can only be solved by real luxury box seats.
3. A new arena closer to campus. Have CAT pay for it and call it the CAT cocoon! Right now Carver has BU over a barrel without the ability to walk away from them. If I was playing ball with them I'd round up as many fat cats as possible with an alternative that could make them happy and have them in on the deliberations with the Carver people to play fair or say they are starting a plan to build an alternative venue. It can be done. Why settle for anything less?

Unless the Fat Cat BU fans can pony up close to a two-three hundred million to build a new facility and parking lots/deck near BU, along with restaurants/bars, along with a rapid transit system to get people in/out of the area, an on campus facility is a moot point. Unless you prefer a high school gym like Drake has on campus in an almost identical private urban campus in an older area of town with limited parking, access, and neighborhood ammenities.
I suggest the Fat Cat BU fans you know pony up and BUY the Civic Center from the City and try to make money on it without charging BU rent! Perhaps BU should start a fund drive to buy the Civic Center and turn it into a profit center for the univerity...City gets out of its budget/pension liability problems. Kills two birds with one stone. Think outside the box and THINK BIG!
Hey AZ like the way you think! Does anyone know what percent of Carver's revenue comes from BU? I'm sure we could also find creative ways to fund part of a new facility infrastructure.

I agree with this statement. I would guess that the fans were worth 8 -10 points a game at the fieldhouse. I would guess much less at Carver.

In the studies I cited, the fan support was maybe the biggest factor in home court advantage. The number of students present in the arena is a major factor. Unfortunately, and off-campus arena greatly reduces the student involvement.

Well I am not one of the Fat Cat BU fans, just a fan I am not a cheep ass either I do know first hand about the city budgets and the finance wows they are in Not Good But maybe someone can tell me where all the beer, soda, and pop money goes Example: Wed. game, (for my wife) a SMALL SODA and A SMALL POPCORN = $7.25. I would est. the cost out of the $7.25 to be around $.35, give or take a nickel. Someone is getting FAT
So I told my wife no more, just to much! Then Beerman came around and I bought one at a cost of $5.50 + a $1.00 for beerman. My wife said thats high, shouldn't you go without to! My answered to her was do the math I saved us $.75 Then, then, then, beerman came around again And well, you should know the rest of the story

Wow. Now THAT is a suggestion. And I like it.
For starters, Bradley can tell the Rivermen when the Arena... err... ice is available.
Bradley can keep March "open" for hosting post-season tournies in the event we don't make the NCAA (Disney on Ice will have to make their sweep thru P'town in April).
Bradley can bring in concerts that are more desirable to college kids. No more of the likes of REO Speedwagon, Ratt, and Alabama... bring in some fresh sounds that Bradley students and kids ranging from teenager to people in their 30's from C Illinois who would love to catch a concert.
