John Calipari Loses It

Just now happening...as Coach Cal was being interviewed on ESPN, he says this to John Buccigross...
"OK, so you're a jagoff. Basically, you're a jagoff."

Maybe it comes from John Calipari reading the blogs by his own fans........
this Kentucky fan said this about Cal yesterday...
"Calipari is not the kind of "jagoff" to beat a team by 75 just for the purpose of doing so"

all the interviewer does is begin to ask Calipari to compare this Kentucky team to his Memphis team, and Cal
immediately assumes the host is going to ask about the issues, the loss in the Final, etc..and tears into him, calling him a "jagoff"......

Cal instantly loses a gasket when he thinks (erroneously) that the interviewer is going to ask about Memphis issues..
he even says that he (Cal) thought the agreement was they were NOT going to talk about Memphis but they were going to stay on Kentucky...

PA??? I've been to PA, I know a lot of people from PA, my brothers both went to school in PA and I've heard folks call each other jagoff in PA as much as anywhere else. It's funny but a common term for people only in PA, now that is also funny.

Da_Coach can we start calling people on our threads jagoff if we do not agree with them? How offensive is the term? Anyway Cal is becoming a jagoff himself! There seems to be a lot of jagoffs in the coaching proffesson. As a matter of fact there are a lot of jagoffs in the reporting business.

I have a lot of relatives from Pennsylvania, and I can tell you firsthand that the word "jagoff" has a different meaning when you're from there. The way my relatives use it is if someone is being goofy, or making fun of you, teasing you, telling jokes.... then you call them a jagoff. It's in no way meant to be an insult if you're from the area. Like most things with the media, this is being blown way out of proportion.

I find it funny because it is a term I might have used when I was in 6th grade. More in the content of, "You idi0t". That's how the people in Maryland use it!

Well I guess we have a difference of OPINION on the matter

It also seems like they are joking since Calipari laughs pretty hard after saying that and Buccigross jokingly calls a "20 sec timeout"...

I think Calipari was bothered a little bit, but got over it quick and laughed it off. Not a big deal, in my opinion.

I spent the first 31 years of my life in PA. and remember this term being used in my youth. Iit does have History.
I do not consider myself being a "jagoff" but, I do consider Calipari one.
I did not realize this term was indigenous to The Keystone State.
