  • What would make this a succesful season...

What are your minimum requirements to call this season a success....?

  • #2
    NCAA or bust!

But at the absolute minimum, a top 3 finish, winning a game in St. Louis, and an NIT would renew some faith in me regarding the direction of the program.
    Onward and Upward!

3rd place in the Valley. Break the barrier and get there. Whatever happens after that happens.

Guess I should repeat mine.....3rd in Valley or higher. Tourney finals and NIT at LEAST.

I also would accept a 4th place finish IF the NCAA's followed.....

How about winning the Valley*? When was the last time we did that? Its about time.

          edit: Tournament.

Placing at least 3rd in the conf. and making the championship in the tour, as long as we continue to play tough defense and rebound we are as good as anybody in the league .

NCAA appearance would be the best. That would excuse a 4-6th place finish.

I really want a top 3 finish, otherwise-- can't speak for selection committees for NCAA or NIT... So I guess the other thing I'd really like is a tourney win, which kinda takes care of everything else.

                  Best case scenario;
NIU wins out, except loses to us! Bradley finishes 2ND. IN vALLEY and Beats UNI in tournament final!
We get a 13 seed AND BEAT #4 GONZAGA!
The rest would be the topping on the sundae!

I'm not to worry about where we place because if we play up to our ability we should just be fine. So with that first statement in mind, if we play hard, with passion, as a team, we see positive development from everyone and there are no more personal set backs I'll be fine regardless of where we finish. Again if we do all that there is no reason that we do not finish in the top 3 of the Valley.

                    Go Braves!

Thanks for the response...just to be clear. You'd be ok with 6,7, 8 as long as they play hard and we see improvement?

A top 3 finish in regular season. Make it to the championship game in the tournament. 2 NIT wins. A stud big man to commit to us while we are on our run to come in and play next season. No broken bones or blown knee's. Yep, that ought to set the stage for a long run next season. Feel free to throw in an experienced asst coach for good measure.

I agree. It's hard to put a specific accomplishment as necessary for success. Let's just keep playing like we have been and I will be happy.

I won't be really happy with anything less than a NCAA appearance, which at this point means winning the tourney. That said, given where we were a couple weeks ago, and the fact that we bring almost everybody back next year, I'll take a top 3 finish and winning a game or two in the NIT.

You betcha! Dogrus if these guys play hard and improve I also expect a lot more then 6,7,8! I'm just not going to hang my hat on a number. What will make you happy and me may be two different things. I am not questioning your expectations. Mine have to do with the way the team competes not necessarily their record.
