We could always write another large thread concerning the PJS and KW! What I get when I take the time to read one of his pieces is that he is one opinionated person and I prefer my journalist to pitch the facts and to keep their passion under check. His blogs should be where his opinions are written not in the paper. With that, I'd have to say KW really likes BU but is not a fan of JL. I'm sure it goes both ways. DR gets a lot more face time with JL if anyone has notice.

he knew the coaches and players would all cut out a copy, paste it to their lockers, throw darts at the picture, then go out and play 100% harder to prove KW wrong...
as I said, I actually am glad he wrote the column because I think it helped motivate the team and they are playing better...

A piece that keeps to the facts of an event would be a story by a reporter. Not an editorial by a columnist. Columnists are supposed to express an opinion.
Both in fact our journalists.

Hope they can keep it up and take it to CU!!Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Columnists should write with a slant but not while venting or with a perceived notion of feeling jilted. It makes them look a little less manly and in the past that was a big thing before the metro sexual thing became in fashion. Facts were king, not feelings!
If you mean "recent development" as in the last 100 years then I think you are right. Sports editorials have been around as long as I have been alive (50+ years). And I have read sports editorial columns from New York fromback in the 20's or 30's about the Yankees, etc.

I sure wouldn't want anything in Peoria modeled after the way New Yorkers do it...

But let's not jump on the guy for basically doing his job.. and let's not say he's not doing his job because he writes an unpopular opinion. As a columnist his job is not to recite the facts of the events.. it is to offer an opinion.
And I certainly hope the guys hired to work in the number one media market in the United States do a better job than the guy in Peoria. That's the way that is supposed to work as well. If you are really good at it someone notices and you move up the ladder.

KIllerB you missed my sarcasm but maybe you didn't. The problem with Wessler is that he is way to one sided. I can understand an occasional jab towards the program and JL but a constant slam is not very partial. I'll stand by my words he is a jilted lover. I do not slam Dave Reynolds and he occasionally slams JL but he also stands up for what is good. Impartiality is all I ask for from a journalist.
How long has Wessler been at the PJS. That might say something about his writing because as you said, "And I certainly hope the guys hired to work in the number one media market in the United States do a better job than the guy in Peoria. That's the way that is supposed to work as well. If you are really good at it someone notices and you move up the ladder." This we can agree on."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

How long has Dave Snell been in Peoria......you think he's not good enough to move up the ladder?
In fact Dave had a chance YEARS ago to take a high profile job but chose not to.
