Another solid game by each starter, and good games off the bench by Sam singh, DSE, and Jake Eastman.
With ISU's loss, Bradley is now tied for 3rd place, and with Wichita State's loss, anything is possible.
I heard fans talking about winning out being a possibility! Bradley has 5 more home MVC games (ISU, WSU, CU, DU, and UNI) and road games at Indiana State, Evansville, ISU, and CU. I think winning 7 of the 9 is quite realistic, and the way BU is playing, all are winnable.
When will we see the column saying, "Ooops, we were wrong, the best was yet to come".
Wow! That would be something if we could win out. But even winning 7 out of 9 gets us at least a 3 seed in the NIT. 6 out of 9 plus a Bracketbuster win at least gets us in the NIT with either a home or road game. And of course running the table will at the very least get us in the at-large discussion, though I think we still would have work to do to get into the NCAA Tournament. At the very least we make a solid step up from last season with all the momentum going into what should be a memorable season next year.
And yes, I'm still waiting for KW's "mea culpa" as well!
"We'll defintely need to play better to beat CU Wednesday night"
Well Rick if we shoot 52.1% from the field, 58.3% from 3, make our free throws at a 77.3% clip and out rebound the Jays by 14, ALL of which we did tonight against the ACES, I GURANTEE we will beat the Jays !!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet there are a lot of teams that would like to have a "not very inspiring game" like that.
Don't get a swelled hear beating DII aces. If we do we will pay dearly later.
[QUOTE=SFP;160176]They played a little ragged today and TB could not for the 2nd game get on track due to fouls.
And TWO of those fouls were as bogus as they come IMO.......the 2 that happened in a 30 second span that is.
The one on defense should have been a double foul or no call at all. Neither player had the ball and both simply collided. How did the ref determine who "initiated" the contact?
Who is the guy in the yellow baseball hat that stands around on the gym floor like he owns the place for about 45 minutes during the pregame? Is he a coach, BU employee, booster, superfan, what? I've always wondered that.
I think the guy you are referring to is the team chaplain. He is a part of the BU team, and he's present at every home game, and some away games. He meets with the players before the games. He also donates a lot of his time to helping the players, and the other BU athletes in other sports.
Maybe not yet, but I don't expect a supposed "unbiased" writer to write off a season prematurely either.
Do you REALLY think he was writing the season off ? I sure didn't take it that way. He was telling it like it was. NOTHING you saw from the Braves gave us any indication it was going to turn around.....and like Big Daddy stated, these last few games have really only told us we are playing about where we SHOULD have been all along.
If someone asked told you are playing MSU, UE at home and SIU on the road what do you expect ? I think MOST would expect 2-1 MAYBE 3-0 due to SIU's recent struggles...so.....really what have we done other then due what we SHOULD be doing? Don't get me wrong...thats great and winning at SIU was huge.
With that said....
CU and roadies at ISU will tell us SOOOO much more.
You win those two and we REALLY have something.....split will be about whats expected. I think the TEAM expects to win both though.
And read his recent articles....calling it dead on and giving credit for the recent inspired play especially on defense.

Okay, maybe he didn't actually write the season off and say it in so many words, but to go and say that the "best days are not ahead" without giving a chance for the season to play out is not great journalism in my opinion. And I say that because we all know that many team's seasons can turn on a dime in an instant. So for him to go and say that Bradley's best days are not ahead was way premature and it certainly did give me impression that he did write off the season, even if he didn't mean it that way. And this is coming from a person that actually did agree with a lot of the points of his article. It was the conclusion that I had issues with.
If I had written that column, I would have said something to the effect that while there were no signs of improvement, we were about to enter a stretch of games where the team had a chance to win some games and gain confidence. And if that occurred then there would be a chance for at least a modest if not major turnaround before the end of the season.
But to even give the impression, wrongly or not that the season was over before over half the games were played was way too premature in my opinion.
Now I agree, let's wait an see how we do against a tougher ISU team and a so-so Creighton team that has been terrible on the road. And just for the record, I think Creighton is beginning to turn things around too after being left for dead as recently as two weeks ago. So this will be a good measuring stick game on Wednesday night.

I agree with you completely.
KW, for all intents and purposes said we would not be successful in the coming days. You can say he had now evidence to suggest we would be, many here thought otherwise, and those who said we would start winning are right, KW was wrong. Plain and simple. No matter how you slice it, KW said we wouldn't be winning, and we are. You can say he had no evidence to say we would, I say there was evidence. We had played the hardest valley schedule to date, were missing our lightening rod DSE, and Sam was starting to get healthy. Thats evidence, KW chose to ignore that and look at how we had been playing, which is a fair POV. But once again, he was wrong, it's gonna happen. But KW sure seems to predict doom and gloom for JL's teams far more often than he predicts success...

Exactly. This is why I mentioned "unbiased" in my post above. He seems like he has it in for JL sometimes. Maybe that's not the actually the case, but it sure comes across that way.
I thought this past year or two KW actually was giving Les the benefit of the doubt more than in the past due to the injury problems on the team. But then he has to write this "hit-and-run" piece that harkens back to some of his earlier columns. And your right about him ignoring the evidence. Injuries, experience and the tough schedule. Hopefully this is all behind us, but KW needs to realize these factors do play into a team's chemistry.

Fair enough but it was hard to disagree with how he felt....NOTHING BU was doing made most of us think there was much hope. I'd have to read it again but I would be surprised if he didn't say or at least infer what it WOULD take to turn it around.
What he writes is mcuh the same as you hear here on any given day...he just gets paid to do it and uses better grammar then OOB does.

And yes, I'm still waiting for KW's apology!
How exactly is it a "hit and run" piece when he has been writing about BU for years and years and will probably be doing so for years to come? Guys like Whellitstone that wrote his article about BU's renegade program...now THATS hit and run to me.
KW is available to discuss what he wrote (on the PJ star board) and will do so openly and honestly.
I don't think someone ever has to "apologize" about an opinion.
And if you don't think he's a BU fan....read his blog about the SIU game. While he tries to remain a reporter you can feel his passion and desire for BU to win and do well.

Agree completely! If he didn't have a passion for BU basketball, he would not have written that particular piece. He was venting a lot of frustration that many BU fans were feeling at that time. No need to apologize for ones opinion. All BU has to do is to keep going out, play well and win games.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Wait, wait! I never said KW was not a Bradley fan. I know he feels the passion and shares his frustration with the fans who feel the same way. I'm just citing one particular column of his that wrote off the team prematurely, that's all.
And no, he's not obligated to apologize for an opinion. I agree it was just that, an opinion. But I still feel he chose to ignore some certain facts (see the above posts) and he wrote the team off early. I didn't want him to apologize because his opinion was wrong. I just wish he would realize that you can't write off a team until they are mathematically eliminated from contention, that's all. And I believe he knows deep down in his heart that any team in any sport can turn things around when things start to "click". Sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't, but that doesn't mean that he knows that the rest of the season will be a failure.
And yes, I am aware KW posts on the PJstar board, and I have been meaning to sign up there if for nothing else than for some friendly debate. Maybe I will do so one of these days.
