Interesting to note what the writer, Scott Powers says about SIU-
The Salukis are really on a slide. They have lost five of their past six and already have five conference losses. The talk around Carbondale is whether coach Chris Lowery should be kept around for next season.

So while Lowery remains at the top of the DePaul list, SIU is trying to decide when to fire him!

who in that bunch would be able to beat any of the others...

as for Northwestern being ranked above both ISU and Bradley - I think this is simple Chi-town bias!!!

Northwestern sits right now at 18-10, with an RPI of 93, SOS of 101 (2nd worse in Big Ten) an NOT ONE single quality nonconference win! Look at their non-conference foes, NC A&T, Liberty, North Florida, Central Conn., Tennessee St., NIU..gaaz...

ISU has RPI of 78 and BU has RPI 103 with SOS 65

lowery on hot seat at siu. what kinda fans are siu's? lowery has 3 ncaa tournament wins, 3 ncaa apperances, 1 sweet sixteen, 1 mvc coach of the year, 3 valley titles and 1 conference tournament title.he is 30's and now they want to can him in after 6 seasons.most schools would be happy to have a coach with that resume.

i disagree. siu has finished first twice, second, third and fifth before this season under lowery.lowery has won 3 ncca tourney games and valley conference tournament, plus he is the only person in valley histroy to win the conference tournament as a player and head coach. with all due respect,t, do you think coach les in his 8 years has has more success than lowery in his 6 years?

The SIU administration and fans have higher expectations for their program, and hence want to ship Lowery out of town. If you look at their MVC standings the past few years, only this year is it terrible to the average person. Last year, in their worst year in nearly a decade, they still finished tied for 5th, yet most people still wanted him gone.

Peoria people wanted Molinari gone after ONE SINGLE bad year even though he had numerous fine teams and post-season success!!
And Mo built success from scratch and didn't have the luxury of having a guaranteed NCAA team handed to him by his predecessor!
Mo had averaged almost 19 wins per season over an eight year span from 1993 to 2001...with his 2000-2001 season being 19-12 and tons of fine freshmen coming in!!
Then he has one sub-.500 season in 2001-2002 (9-20) and the guy was gone....on the heels of tons of pressure from loud fans whose letters the local paper seemed so enthusiastic to publish on a daily basis..and whose columnist so frequently echoed the same line...

Lowery's win totals over the past 5 years have gone 29-18-13-15...so I think the past history as the Peoria fans dealt with Molinari, support my judgement...you think Lowery will get offers from DePaul and elsewhere?? I doubt even a team like WIU would offer the guy now...

Well, I don't know that it's quite that comparable. Looking at his records, Molinari lost 13, 14, 12, 16, 12, and 20 games from 1997 on. Lowery won several conference championships, had an NCAA win, and nearly had SIU in the Elite Eight just three seasons ago.

i think it is sad that you have such a low opinion of peoria fans and how they look at the head coaches at bu.
