  • Bradley Associate Athletic Director leaving

The record setting fund raising successes by Bradley's athletic department has lead to a turnover of personnel.

Dennis Kalina, Bradley's Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs (he leads Bradley's athletic dept.'s marketing efforts), is leaving Bradley and taking the position of Associate Athletic Director for Development at Gonzaga University. Dennis has been at Bradley for 8 years and has had much to do with Bradley's recent success.

Dennis was just recently announced as a member of the new mascot selection committee. He has done a great job at Bradley and will be missed. All of us at Bradleyfans wish him good luck.

Here is what the newspaper article says--
Dennis Kalina, in his eighth year at Bradley University, has been hired by Gonzaga University as associate athletic director for development.

GU athletic director Mike Roth said Kalina will assume his duties Oct. 9. He is in town this weekend and will attend the Bulldog Club golf tournament Monday at Manito Golf and Country Club.

"That will give Dennis a good opportunity to meet many of our key boosters in one setting," Roth said.

Kalina replaces Mike Hogan, who resigned to enter private business in Spokane after eight years at Gonzaga.

"We are excited Dennis has agreed to join our staff," Roth said. "He brings a wealth of experience to Gonzaga."

At Bradley, Kalina has overseen the Braves' marketing efforts and served as director of the booster organization. Under Kalina's leadership, BU has reached record levels in booster club membership, donations to the athletic department and in athletic corporate sponsorships.

Also, there is now a release on the Gonzaga site--

I think they have known for a while that he's leaving.
I don't know who will replace Dennis.
Though it always hurts to lose someone who does a good job, the department is run well and they'll continue to be successful.

I think so. Dennis has done a lot to help developing BU Athletics.

Why did he leave for the same job at pretty much the same size school? It surely can't be that big of pay raise?

It is not the same job, it is a better job, with more pay, at a school with a high profile and a nationally successful basketball program. Everyone wants their careers to advance.
