    Point guard or not?

I heard someone say last nite he's good but NOT a true pg.

I see a guy that can handle it pretty well and passes as well as anyone we have on the team. He can also get to the rim as well or better then anyone else.

I realize its Sams spot but after he leaves is it DSE's?

    Thoughts......

I think he can develop into the role. I don't think he is ready right now, but I doubt many freshman are. I said yesterday, he is a good mix of SM and EM. I just dont think teams really plan for him and I like bringing him in like we do.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Just for clarification I wasn't suggesting he take over that roll. Just wondering what his position is or what others see his as?

And I agree....I like the way we are using him and also agree he's a good blend of Sam and Edge.

I think DSE is more of a slasher type of scorer whereas King O loves to settle for the jumper

I loved the "chest-bump" Les laid on DSE, when he came out of the game, for the last time..
Me thinks Les was showing DSE some love!

Personally, I think DSE has every quality in a pg that we need and want. He has more upside than anyone on the team as well. That's JMO. I think most of the minutes go to him at pg next season and SM's will be split between the 1 and 2. To be honest I wouldn't mind it if that happened now. DSE just creates things. Whether it's with his drives to make others open or just incredible passes he makes things happen which is what we need in a pg. But we have a pretty good team with a 6th man like DSE. What a great get he's turned out to be. Can't wait to see JP next season.

I think right now and next year, SM is the guy. I'd like to see DSE get 20-25 minutes a game, behind SM, AW, and when we go small. And when SM leaves I think DSE should be the pg. EM, will be a senior then, and while I hope he improves DSE is a better player and pg than EM right now and DSE can bring a lot to the team. I compare DSE and EM to DRuff and Tony Bennett (but I think DSE>DRuff, and EM<Tony Bennet). EM will be good support coming off the bench in the next couple of years.

DSE's passing is by far best on the team because when he makes passes it makes things happen and opens up good shots. One thing I've really noticed is when he drives and gets in the air he always knows where he's going with the ball. To often it seems EM gets in the air and is lost, DRuff used to do it some too.

He was a great point guard for Washington and was a lot of the reason for their success, no reason why he cannot play the point for BU and give Sam a breather, the other reason why he is so valuable is he can sub in for Chris as DSE is a great defender and rebounder.

As far as pure point I think he already offers more than SM... he doesn't have the scoring ability that SM does, but he distributes better, drives better, and defends better. For me a true point is a guy who's offensive actions are all predicated on getting his TEAM to score. DSE appears to demonstrate the vision, ballhandling, and passing ability required to be a very good distributor. If, like Ruffin, he develops an outside shot, I think he could be as good as DRuff was.

Both DSE and Sammy are good PGs, but most evaluators would classify them as combo guards. I suspect the coaches could even be recruiting a pure PG for next year.

DSE breaks down the defence better that anyone we have had at BU in some time. He can pass to the post and man is this something new for BU? I like what I see so far......

DSE will start next year. AW will move up to the 3 and DSE into the 2 spot. I'm also not counting that JW will be a Brave with this in mind. If that happens there will be a battle royal for playing time at the 1-3! I would expect to see WE remain our 5 with JW and TB manning the other front line spots with TB taking over the 3 occasionally. That would mean AT needs to step up, JP hopefully could take some of those minutes, MK becomes a proven 4. Well the leaves the 1-3 spot with EM, SM, DSE, AW, DD, JE and a bit of TB when we go a bit bigger.

I'm not sure about DSE's ability to bring the ball up when pressed but in handling the 1/2 court he's lights out as a Freshman. He will be special and I'm confidant that he'll be playing huge minutes for us next year.
