  • Random observations.....

DSE had a great putback opp but him and WE kinda bumped eachother out. Can't blame WE as it was a good hustle play but I think DSE was going to flush it.

CR had his head above the top of the backbaord....OK not that high but OMG did he grab that board. It seemed like he had time to double pump it but got hit and could slam it home....wow.

Speaking of CR his behind the back dribble in the first half and dish to WE along with his spin-o-rama underhand layup in the first half were two of the better plays I have seen all year.

Anyone notice Sammy's new underhand layups....ok maybe not all that new but I had him making 3 and not mising any.

I know SOME are down on EM but I thought he played well yesterday. He really did well on defense and as usual grabbed some boards...I think he fisnished a layup or 2 better then he usually does also.

TB still is a horrible passer but he looked like a TB we all know he can be. Great job.

Anybody have a better view of the No call on WE at the halfs end. I'm at the opposite end but he looked to get hammered. JL was quite upset and the ref told him just keep walking (to the locker room)....to me it looked borderline intentional to stop the easy bucket.

Why can't JE shoot free throws? Looks flat, no arch on em. I do like his energy.

How many shots did WE have where he was falling down and they still went in. It was good to see him finsh so many bunnies.

That team last night was unlike any team I've seen play in the last couple years. Screens, cuts to the basket, pick and rolls run to perfection......and I can't recall to much of that 3 man weave or at least when they did run it they were looking for the cutters quicker.

GREAT balance on Offense and real good D. Not TO many wide open three's we seem to always give.

    On to SIU.

The "no call"on WE's shot just before half was horrible. He took a forearm across both of his arms as he tried to bring the ball up to put it in. Absolutely no question just a really bad miss by the ref's. JL should have been upset and he was.

That has surprised me as well dogs. I would have thought a coach's son and a kid with a reputation for being a good 3-point shooter would be a better free throw shooter. But, I also expect he will improve as a FT shooter each year and shoot 80+% before he's done at BU.

On the plus side Eastman is a MUCH better inside player, rebounder and ball handler than I expected. I think this kid is going to be a pretty good player before he leaves the Hilltop

Another thing with this freshman class is of the 3 playing this year the one, MK, who was supposed to be the most developed and most ready and did start the year getting the most minutes is now at the bottom of the 3 in min. I highly doubt MK regressed, and shows how much the other two have improved in only half a season or so.

Great posts in this thread. Winning big, sure does this board good!

          WE got hammered no doubt.

IMO the biggest difference in this game was the D by the starters. Wow the energy was contagious. Then the 2nd thing was the rebounding. They went after every ball and the 3rd was we finished the bunnies, except SS. I'm pretty sure though that SS will have a break out game soon and you can see him rounding back to where he was last year.

I also wonder why JL is matching us up with their small line up yesterday. At one point TB was the tallest guy out there and WE sat on the bench for big minutes. Either JL loves to go small no matter what or he's resting WE as much as possible because he's still nursing the knee. When you have the lead like we had it would have been nice to get the ball inside to WE with that lineup.

Speaking of that rebounding-- My brother commented that it was almost like we'd had Tom Izzo in for the week teaching some rebounding. We absoultely murdered those guys on the boards.

I think WE is our only productive option at the 5 right now so any chance JL gets to go small and rest WE without having to worry about matching up with their big guy is an advantage for us.

I DO think that was the difference in the game...2nd chance opps and limiting them to one and done many times......

To see guys come flying across the paint actually LOOKING for and fighting for the ball was refreshing and something I haven't seen in ages from a BU coached team.

Did anybody catch the stat that Chuck B. gave on the post game show concerning back-to-back baskets by MoSt. I don't know the exact time frame but he said something like "MoSt. scored back-to -back baskets for their 6th and 9th points of the game (the 2nd basket being a three) They did not get two baskets in a row again until their were FOUR minutes left in the game!"

I thought this was a pretty amazing stat. (especially considering what happened last week at their place) It is a testament to the new found defense and rebounding from BU. Keep it up boys!

Great stat....I consider defensive rebounds as part of your D. Don't know if thats the common perception but limiting your opponents opportunities is huge.

Again it was great to see us flying all over the place "seeking" the ball.

Not sure if anyone noticed or cared, but Bradley now has the highest RPI for a team with a losing record at #90 and a SOS rank of #9 in the country. It would be interesting to see where we could end up if we put a serious run together to end the year. ISU comes in at #114 (which will go way down after the beating given to them by Drake), however their record is 13-5.

Really makes the point of how important scheduling tough is, because even though we have no chance at an at-large bid, neither does ISU or many other teams with gaudy records.
