I think it just highlights how much some other players have been struggling offensively, and how poor our defense has been. Though we look to be improving a bit, as @UNI was a good effort, I hope we can continue the improvement and pick up some wins.

I have always felt if you have 3 guys who can score the ball you should win. Seeing the stats is so frustating, but it just emphasises how bad we have been this year in rebounding, defending and free throw shooting.

Brown, Warren and SM are a combined 131 of 156 from the FT Line 83.9%

The rest of the team 98 of 173 56.6%

HUGE glaring problem is Roberts, Egolf and DSE -

65 of 116 56% Big minute guys who are, simply put, bad ft shooters.

Rebounding is also a huge issue. As is consistant defense. But both can be improved during a season and if UNI is an indication those area have potential to be cleaned up.

FT shooting is repetition and has to be worked on constantly. Giving away free points at the rate we do drives me crazy. We are a very aggressive team (we have gotten to the line 34 more times then our opponents but we have made only 2 more total fts). But you cant keep leaving points at the line, especially front ends of 1-1's.

Those 3 must improve at the line. But overall if the defense gets consistant and we rebound as we did with UNI, the overall bad team ft shooting would not be as glaring.

Could you imagine how good we could be if we just started rebounding better and running our fast breaks cleaner? I was watching Pittsburgh the other night against UCONN and what they do so well is rebound get the ball to one of their guards and run the floor. Yes, they have some talent but their ability to work as a team rebounding and running the floor is what good teams do. Michigan State is another team that has those traits. That is why I believe you'll see both those programs progressing pretty far in the NCAA.

imo, the problem isn't scoring it is defending.i would rather have less scoring averages and defend better and win. notice uni doesn't have anyone scoring a great deal they just defend well and win.
