Jim does call timeouts after made baskets more than any college coach I can think of. It's probably from his days in the NBA, where coaches do this all the time. It's usually a move made to get a defensive set to try to get a stop or turnover.

I coached Junior High ball for 10 years. I have the record for most TO's called after a made basket...lol

I only did this late in the game, however.

All I want to say is that I love the way DSE plays the game. I would take 4 of him and 1 big any day.

I think we all wish we had the timeouts at the end of the game, but perhaps without taking that timeout earlier, we never even have the chance to win at the end. I also thought the clock confusion at the end gave Jim the chance to call the play he wanted. I was looking for a mid range catch and shoot there, as I was assuming they would be guarding the rim for the lob and the 3pt to eliminate the upset trey.

There were a few multiple turnover possessions by both teams that were just plain crazy. I was happy with the D effort and coaching in this game, but obviously a loss is still a loss. For whatever reason, the last 3 games with UNI have been heartbreakers. If TB and AW can contribute in Peoria, I like our chances. I hope UNI is still ranked come 2/13. If so, I might have to make the 5 hour drive to come see that upset.

We can't mention names on this site it might be construed as negative. Read recent PJS article where our leader identified himself!

SO JL gets railed if he doesn't call timeout when the other team is on a run, saving them for later, then gets beat on if he calls them and we don't have them. Once again, I am not a huge Les fan and think if next season isn't a top 3 finish he should be replaced, but seriously the JL can do no good gets old.

Just say it, if you don't do it in a demeaning fashion no one will think anything of it. I often call out EM for poor performance, and mention his twitter/facebook quote talking about how everyone is wrong and that he can shoot, but I do it in a respectful manner so it's always allowed. Its when we call players derogatory terms, are unreasonable critical, or speculate on rumors that posts get removed. If you don't do any of that (and I've never known you to), then it won't be an issue.

I agreed with about every aspect of this post. The 4 DSE's obviously isn't literal, but I might actually take two of him. I think next year he should start. Either over Sam (yes, I did say that someone might actually deserve to start over Sam), or in place of CRob if Dodie or MK. Doesn't step up. I think my ideal lineup next year would be SM, AW, TB, WE, JP with DSE first off the bench. That leaves us thin on the frontcourt subs, but would be a nice line up. Hopefully one of the new players that comes in is bigger (3/4?).

As far as this year goes I am very content with giving the backup minutes for both Sam and AW to DSE, get him at least 15-20 minutes a game if not more. IMO he gives us much more than Edge on offense and is equivalent on D. I do wish AT would step up, I thought we saw him coming of age earlier in the season....

Our best 40 minute efforts all season have all been away from home. I can almost guarantee that we will be underdogs on the Vegas line...
Yeah, but we haven't played a complete game at home all year either. If we do, we win this game by at least 10, although at this time I will take a 1 point win, which I think we are more than capable of doing if we play Saturday like we did last night.

I think we would/could agree this does nothing to help us close out a game. Just adds to our second half challenges. This needs to stop Pretty simple facts and it makes sense to me Nowhere nitpicking By the way, which I never do If anyone was, well Your apology is excepted
Thanks. My point though is that yes, while the six points may very well have been the difference, I still think this team should be credited for playing the closest to a complete game that we have had since the Illinois game. This is progress, and yes we have to build on this on Saturday, but I don't think we should dismiss the improvements we made last night just because we still have a two minute flat stretch to start the second half. As I stated last night, while six points was still huge, we stopped the bleeding much faster and actually got ourselves together to make a run.

Yes, we lost the game, but consider this a game that we weren't supposed to win anyway. And yet look how close we came to actually winning it. I think that says a lot about this team and we need to build on it, not dismiss it.

Pretty much just ran in and jumped up for the ball along with 2 uni guys..he tipped it in but while jumping towards the ball he collided with a player in midair and that player fell down. Forgot who it was...maybe o'rear or something. I don't think it was an awful call....just usually it's a non-call type of situation unless it's hard.
You're right. He may very well have committed the foul, but usually the refs let that go that late in a game. It's unfortunate when a call is made like that and it decides the outcome of a game. Sometimes it's better for the refs to let the game go on in that situation and let the chips fall where they may.

No matter how it was called. That's the play I want my players making every time. My other initial thought was, go ahead call the foul, but count the bucket. Anyone else think the same thing?

I can agree with that and think/hope we can build off of last night We also can stop the bleeding before it starts by simply coming out in the 2nd on the attact and not flat allowing a bunch of unanswered points that we have to over come You may not consider that as important or try to talk it down but it has as much to do with our 2nd half problems as anything Just so you know I am a team supporter and hope this team turns it on the rest of the season

I would have but we never made a basket late in the game
