  • Bruce Pearl and co beat #1 Kansas

Lost their leading scorer and 5 other players on the roster were not available. To beat KU is impressive. Helluva coaching job.

Yea! It was kind of like watching a game down at the prison farm

Tennessee played very well. They don't have the talent Kansas has, but it's not as if they are devoid of talent. Maze, Hopson, and Chism have been regular starters all year, and Prince has started half their games. Those players, plus Woolridge were all pretty highly sought after recruits. Their lack of depth will eventually hurt them in conference play, though.

Kansas was coming off a near home loss to Cornell...they are not playing well, are not deep, and rely heavily on 2 or 3 scorers...
Not to mention that they so rarely actually ever go on the road for a game ..
I think they will lose more when conference play starts....
This is a good win for Tennessee, but keep in mind, that Tennessee's main guys are ALL still 4 and 5-Star recruits...
In fact, if you list the "Star" ranking of the Tennessee guys vs. the Kansas guys, there's very little difference.

4 Star - Hall, Woolridge, Chism, Prince, Maze
        5 Star - Hopson

4 Star - Aldrich, Reed, Taylor, Morris, Morris
        5 Star - Collins, Henry

I was watching some of the game yesterday. That's too bad that Kansas lost!

When Tennessee plays Kansas, does that qualify as "casting Pearls before swine?"

While many can certainly dislike Bruce Pearl for past reasons, or his antics, or whatever - I don't think they can make a fair claim that he is not a good basketball coach.

I agree.. While he still had some decent players on the floor, the fact is that he played 3 walkons and 2 freshman at various stages of the game....and we are constantly defending our team and our coaching because one or two players are out injured. Tennessee beat the #1 team in the nation with a severley handicapped line up. It is amazing what good coaching can accomplish! Injuries are a part of basketball. Let's quit using injuries as an excuse. It is embarassing!

One of Pearl's "walk-ons" had 2 years of Division I basketball experience. Just saying.

I believe that our walkons have more than 2 years of experience. And.........?

                        here's something interesting...

Kansas was riding high and then loses at Tennessee...and already there's some turmoil at Kansas..

one of the starters goes to the press and starts whining about minutes played and kinda rips the coach for the team being disorganized and too full of prima donnas...

Coach Self rips back and says Taylor should shut up (paraphrased...but you get the picture..)
Lincoln, Neb. ? Tyshawn Taylor, who was a starter last season and is a starter playing similar minutes this season, nonetheless said Tuesday he’s unsure of his role on the 2009-10 Kansas University basketball team. “We have so many people, so many players, so I feel like I don’t know, sometimes I don’t know how […]

Oh well - gotta be something to keep the press interested and stay in the headlines...

Hey - last night K-State upset #1 ranked Texas...but K-State was also ranked in the Top 10.

                            The crowd chanted "overrated"...but I have a ??

If you are a Top 10 team playing on your home court, then is it much of an upset when you beat another Top 10 team at home,
and what satisfaction is there, if you actually chant that the team you just beat isn't rated higher than you?

The overrated chant is one of the dumbest things fans can say... they are basically saying the team they just beat did not deserved to be ranked as high, which actually is saying the win THEIR team just completed must not be as good of a win since that team shouldn't have been ranked that high in the 1st place... Also- KSU was favored in that game... I am very surprised they did not rush the court, but they didn't so I respect that. Now if they were unranked- a storming the court would be acceptable
