If JL had another great year at BU, and the big boys from the BCS conferences came around with the big checkbook, he would be outta here. Just like I would expect him to. Doesn't everyone in their profession aspire to make more money and acquire a more prestigious gig? He's got a bunch of kids to provide for. He's an ultra competitive guy, I think you're selling him way short if you think he only aspires to coach at BU.

I'm not saying he's set the bar low for himself and doesn't aspire to improve himself. I'm saying he more selfless than most coaches and aspires to turn himself and BU into the big time rather than just himself.

How do you know that? Because he played at BU? In this day and age, money talks.

How do you know that he's more selfless that most coaches? What evidence do you have of that?

Just asking why people would think any school would have Les on their radar right now? No offense but there is probably 4 to 5 other coaches in this league that would get looks before Les.

                Jim isn't on anyone's radar.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure DePaul would have zero interest in JL.

I personally dont think Depaul is a good career move for anyone. Rough conference with not so good facilities. Look at a guy like Norm Roberts at St John. The guys on the hot seat after making the Johnies competative again but its still not enough fast enough. There has to be more to Depaul's problems than just coaching. I mean christ they're in one of the biggest hot beds in the country and they cant get anyone with big time talent to committ. Depaul = a four year run ending in the coach going back to be an assistant or bolting for greener pastures aka Leito

I think you hit on the key problem- if Jerry Wainwright had been able to land even 1 Chicago area star player each year, regardless of how much better the team would have been, I think he would still be coaching there.
There is simply no reason why DePaul, facilities or not, can't be in competetion for some of the talent in the Chicago area.
Maybe they think Tracy Webster can recruit better? Or someone like Jerrance Howard? But I am sure they can do better than JW has done.
Think of all the great talent out of Chicago the last few years- not just superstars like Derick Rose and Sherron Collins, who probably would have still gone to higher programs than DePaul- but how about Evan Turner, Jacob Pullen, Mike Dunnigan, Josh Crittle, Iman Shumpert, Darius Smith, Brandon Paul, John Shurna, Chris Colvin, Diamond Taylor, and this year's crop of Jereme Richmond, Lenzell Smith, Ahmad Starks, Crandall head, Reggie Smith, Mike McCall, Ben Brust, and many more.

It's hard to believe, but since he was hired in 2005, Wainwright has landed only 1 Chicago area high school kid (Will Walker-Bolingbrook) in 5 years.

DePaul shouldn't be in the Big East.

DePaul should be able to compete for recruits.

At least they had to guts to make a move with someone who had local ties. Not sure they'll make a better one, but it's hard to be worse than 0-18 in your league.

I think Jerrance would have to have a shot at this. He's very well thought of up there, and he would be able to increase their talent level immediately. He's had very little experience with x/o's, but that's what you hire assistant coaches for, right?

I don't know, but if Bradley doesn't jump on Webster and Booth as possible assistants next year they are nuts!

Not only would we get big time recruits from the Chicago area (finally), BUT we'd also relieve some pressure from Jim for hiring bad assistants.

I would think that Webster would get a long hard look for the head coach job full time. Maybe? Am I delusional?
