  • Springfield newspaper article about Sam Singh's last game "at home"

Nice article in the local Springfield, MO newspaper about Sam Singh-

Sam Singh will play his last college game in Springfield, which is just a few miles from his hometown of Ozark, Missouri.
BTW, Sam's family braved the subzero wind chills in Springfield last night to visit him at the team hotel. Sam was especially happy to see his dog!

Incidentally, after the team dinner last night, when the players were on their own free time, several of them were working out on the exercise equipment in the fitness center of the hotel. These guys are dedicated!

I don't really know how I feel about the team working out the night before a game...I've never heard of it being a good thing to work out hard the day before a game. They should eat a lot of carbs and do nothing until warmups. Maybe this is another reason why we are so tired in the 2nd half. Is anybody some kind of training/nutrition expert that could shed some light on this, if it's true/false?

I don't think their workout was anything more than a warmup routine to keep muscles conditioned. Nothing wrong with that.
I continue to be amazed that we question and second guess everything the team or coaches do.
Because yesterday was a travel day, they had a limited practice, and no shootaround. With today's early game, they will not have any practice/shootaround today, either. The team is just having their pregame meal, then checking out of the hotel and preparing to head to the arena.
What should we insist that the team have for breakfast? Must have something to do with losing leads?

I'm willing to bet this hotel doesn't have enough weights to really wear them out... I mean, obviously, they COULD... but I'd assume between the players and coaches, someone would know if what they were doing was harmful

The only equipment they were using was just the treadmill.

Is called staying fresh, breaking a sweat and keeping a routine of physical activity. Lots of physically active people like a little movement after a trip, versus sitting on a bed flipping channels.

Maybe you would like it better if they snuck out at 1am and hit a skin bar, threw down a few natty lights for carbs and then slept in until 11, to make sure they did nothing until warm ups?

just properly stretching out those muscles after the 6-7 hour bus ride

These are 20 year old, finely trained athletes. I think the concern here is totally unwarranted. I would be more concerned about having to play 3 games in 3 days or 4 games in 4 days in March?

My brother and I happen to do a little running in our spare time, and a lot of times when we travel out of town for races, we will jog the night before to keep my muscles loose and get a good warmup for the next day. It definitely makes a difference in keeping the legs ready to go full speed the next day.
                  Go small or go home!

While watching the Redeem Team I learned that Kobe works out the day of a game.... I think that turned out well for him
Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

Actually it was a 45 minute charter jet.
But they did spend a couple hours chowing down at the Longhorn Steakhouse just before returning to the hotel.
