Just something that's annoyed me these last few home games as there shouldn't be any excuse for any of it.
Doesn't really give the crowd any extra momentum, even those of us who want to scream and cheer.

I wish the band would play right over them for once. As I said before, the ones who want to stand the whole game should have their own section. Doesn't make you a better fan just because you want to stand the whole game.

[QUOTE=SaintLouBrave22;156481]I have noticed this as well, and the understanding I can gather from personal experience are three things:
a) lack of focus
b) lack of mental toughness
c) laziness
Right now, I believe we are seeing various combinations of the 3 from just about every player...
It seems to me sometimes its more a lack of heart then laziness. Just going through the motions like they've earned something already... i know a lot of blame goes to the coaches but it doesn't help when the coaches want to win more than the players do...

I'm very encouraged and happy with the way to came back to pull out the win last night and love what we showed in the OT. But the memory of us handing over a 16pt. 2nd half lead, missing free throws, watching our supposed PG hand over the ball again versus a press and seeing us play unbelievably scared and tentative when they made a run at us still overshadowes it for me.
Everyone does understand that if they convert the gimme lay-up after Sam's TO with under a minute and if Marshall doesn't fall down after starting his drive at the end of regulation too late, we lose that game and everyone is on meltdown overdrive right now, right?
Maybe we did turn a corner like coach Les said, but it's gonna take us playing a few complete games, not just salvaging what would have been a collosal collapse against a league bottom feeder to win my trust.

maybe had he not fallen on the ball, then the ball squirts loose, Sammy recovers and goes all the way for a layup and gets fouled intentionally from behind (and this time they call it) -
so we get 2 shots & the ball then convert a 3 pointer on the next possession -
.........thus Marshall falling on the ball turned into a tremendous break for them - saving a 7 point swing in our favor!

Crowd Apathy
Anyone know how many BU alums are in the Greater Peoria Area and how many of them make up the crowd at a typical' BU home game? With fewer and fewer BU alumni staying in the area after graduation, is the local active fan base declining?
For non BU alums, non BU related people, or transfers to Peoria area, BU MBB games are more a night out social event, not a life or death situation. This may explain the lack of total crowd support when things aren't particularly going well with BU or the opponent isn't considered 'big time'. A BU game is also a discretionary expense for them - and the economy/local employment picture is not real good right now for the 20-40 year old population in Peoria area.
When I was still in town, it seemed the crowds were made up of pretty old folks, which can also explain the apathy and early departures - WGN news at 9pm might be more interesting than the results of the BU game for folks who go to bed by 9:30pm... On the other hand, I also saw second/third generation BU fans there with their small/grade school age kids who want to get their kids home and in bed before 10:00 pm.
Demographics (and economy) may be affecting the size of the crowd and intensity of the support at BU MBB games...Just a thought...BUilding for the Future

You can still enjoy the game on TV while the rest of us actually try and make a difference and help the team. Cameron(duke) should be the model...no one sits anywhere near the court...guess what their home record is??!!!What part of illegal don't you understand?

JD, this sounds just like something my Dad would have said as well! Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

For a school/surrounding community that views Bradley MBB as an institution and something to be passionate about, its amazing how they can make 8,000 sound like 2500. At least thats what it sounds like from 2000 miles away on a 19" monitor streaming through the channelsurfing.net feed.

Carver has always been the way it is since the beginning. It would be nice if the students had better seats but that never made a difference in our home court advantage. I'm going to have to believe that the students are not living up to their end. How many students are there at a game on average? It use to be that it was tough to get a student ticket unless you purchased a season ticket."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
