Just win baby, just win. Everything will take care of itself if you do that.

I think it would help if our players cared as much as some of us do

I do not think that is a fair statement. I'd probably say some need to learn about their responsibilities but I bet each and everyone of them wants to win. Now are they willing to sacrifice a few weekends to reach that end? That is the question and are they dedicated enough to be a winner? IMO being a winner has nothing to do with your record but on how you went about it.

There is no doubt in my mind that they want to win. However when I read story's that have players out partying really late after a loss, with a tough conference road game coming up, it makes me question their focus and dedication to doing what it takes to win.

I agree with you about how being a winner is how you go about it. Our last five losses do not show me that this team is putting in the effort. I could be wrong, and would be happy to be wrong, but the TB incident, and with that the apparent lack of team leadership in making sure all our guys are locked in to doing what it takes to win, to be honest it make me doubt. I will also admit that I am frustrated with the recent losses, so maybe that post was harsher then it should have been. I do hope something clicks for our guys and they get it turned around.

Let"s face it, everyone wants to win, it is what you sacrifice and how much extra work you put in that helps in determining how you go about in achieving these goals. How bad do you really want it!

85% of the games we've played this year we've been the better team on the floor. What we need is someone like I feel DD was/is who grabs guys and pushes them through that 15% when the teams legs are a little tired or the mo is changing sides. It's not about heart or wanting to win or coaching its about taking charge and knowing how to get the most out of your teammates. SM did this alot last year too some stoppages you would see him going around to every player individually, but I don't even see him doing it this year or atleast as often.

...and I suspect you'd even agree with all I just said...

but anyone is qualified to give an opinion no matter how ridiculous it may be!!
ok- t - i do agree. i personally dont get on players at all as long as they are giving effort and are staying out of trouble.on the other hand, a head coach is a different story.
it goes with the teritory and the large checks he cashes every month. not easy to go out in the real world and make $500,000 or more.....

[quote=tornado;155811]we can all form opinions, but obviously we do not have access to all of what the staff knows about the guys' work in practice and with the weights, and we don't know about setbacks, injuries, attitude behind the scenes, academics...

so it's nice to postulate our favorite lineup, but I personally wouldn't criticize the lineup the coaches choose, since they surely know a whole lot more than I do.

That is just the facts of big time sports. If you want to win you need every advantage you can have and drinking, partying hard and staying up late just gives the other teams an advantage. I'm sure JL preaches this and the young men need to be mature enough to listen and react responsible. Basketball is a very physically demanding sport especially at the D-I level.
