  • Playing Big - Did it Work?

I did not see the game last night though I plan to watch it later tonight.

My question for those who did see the game is this: How effective was the team when SS and WE were on the floor together? WE's stat line was impressive ... SS's not so much but maybe having SS on the floor at the same time is why WE was able to grab more boards than usual. Their combined minutes totaled 46, so they were on the floor together for at least 6 minutes of the game.

No, Egolf just played one helluva a game. He had the hunger and aggressiveness that he showed against Illinois. He needs to "bring it" more often. Singh was Singh. Need I say more

They played together for a couple of minuites at the end of the first half and were pretty effective. SIU was in some foul trouble and did not match up well.

Probably would of been better to have Thompson and Egolf in at same time. A lot of players have the tendency to jump over Singh's back. I'm not going to go much further as I hate to point out a single player.

I don't think it was that effective. Just not sure what is wrong with SS-- he's regressed. I guess AT isn't bringing it in practice either, because he's been reasonably effective when he's actually gotten into games. I hope he gets it together, so he can get on the floor.

Egolf played an excellent game. He keeps that kinda play up and he'll really be something for us. Amazing as it sounds, considering our expectations, our PG play is what's really hurting us.

In the time they both played together WE was more active, scoring 6 points on 3 easy baskets and Sam scored 2. Rebounds I don't have the exact # but I thinking WE had at lease 3 and Sam had 1 and a block. Also I do not remember their front line scoring during those times! Both times they played together the lead increased, especially at the end of the 1st half to give us a 13 point lead! If anyone saw this game and knows anything, they can't help but say it helped us and was about one of the only bright spots we can talk about to day
We need change and if this not one of them, then get ready because there is more of this small guard / bombs away BS, with little post play and with much of the same results as last night coming. If there is a better change I'm open for anything Just can't take another game like last night

I don't think any of us can OoB. This team DESPERATELY needs an upset road win at WSU because things won't get any easier over the next few weeks. As one poster said we will either sink or swim based on the next nine games. Our season will be determined by the end of this month..... one way or the other.

Mentioned to Ben that when we were playing big that we ran the lead to 15....it worked...just wondering what it would look like with AT at the 5 at times and Will at the 4....

BUT HE NEVER PLAYED TB WHEN WILL AND SAM WERE IN GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I mean really....why not try SM,AW,TB,WE,SS or AT...at least once pleeeeeease

Oh Ya, I like it Also if I may, add Milos in there. Nothing but good would happen. Better rebounding, a inside/outside game, rested players, and playing time for AT and Milos! Not going to happen Jimmy will live and die with the small game

It definitely worked as it allowed Will to play further out on the floor which in turn gave him the opportunity to make more cuts to the basket, we expanded the lead with the 2 of them out on the floor, it makes for a lot tougher matchup when you have a 6-9 no.4 position player like UNI has with Koch.

I really struggle to find a reason why SS ever plays more than 4-5 minutes a game. I'd play Egolf 35 min. a game, every game.

I'm really impressed Egolf's knee hasn't stiffened up with this arctic weather this week. I would imagine they are doing some serious therapy on it before and after practice/games.

As I posted earlier, it worked at the end of the first half with both Egolf and Singh in together. But remember SIU had 3 or 4 of their starters (including their bigs) on the bench with 2 fouls each. The success came against the subs. I'm not positive but Dillard may have been the only starter in for SIU.
