  • The Bottom Line

Let's kick this off with the only obvious and agreeable point.

Everyone here IS a Bradley Basketball fan. Everyone wants Bradley to win.

I think everyone agrees on those facts.

However, we also obviously all have different beliefs about how to go about winning games. It might be style of play, coaching, recruiting, whatever. That's fine too. It's good to have different view points and ideas about the program.

I think the worst thing we could do is start name-calling and bashing one another. I am personally sick of the "True Fan" garbage. I don't care how many games you go to, how much you donate, or IF you are buddies with the coaches or staff. None of that makes someone a fan, IMO.

I know more than a few people who like BU and cheer for them to do well. However, they don't have the $$$$$ or time to go to every game and donate. That doesn't make them less of a fan than me or you.

I have been going to BU games for over 25 years. I sat in endzone seats when BU went 32-3, saw Hawk kill every team in the league and break every record, saw Mo throw out the thugs and rejects and rebuild a wrecked program, and was in Detroit to watch BU go to the Sweet 16.

I also saw BU get banned from postseason play, sat in empty games while Albeck implode the program, watched Mo mire BU in mediocrity, and now watch Jim play middle-of-the-pack ball.

Good, bad, and ugly. But I have always been there. Win or lose. I graduated from Bradley, just like 5 of my siblings. My father put in 20 years at BU. I worked there for almost 10 years myself before, during, and after I was in school. I am about as Bradley as you can be.

But this isn't about what I have done or what someone else has done or hasn't done.

It's all about what we all should want......

I WANT BRADLEY TO BE BETTER THAN AVERAGE.

I cannot sit year after year and watch the same result. I want more than this.

Whether Jimmy goes or stays is not up to me. Honestly, I pulled for him all the way. I defended his hiring and sung his praises to anyone I could. Anyone on PJStar knows that. I defended the process which brought him here and begged people to give him time to learn. But at some point there has to be light at the end of the tunnel.

My bottom line is this: I don't see any improvement. I don't see stability. I don't see the signs of this turning out successful. It ticks me off to say it too.

If this makes me anti-BU, well then that's really too bad.

I WANT BRADLEY TO BE BETTER THAN AVERAGE.

You and I have taken very similar paths through BU BradleyJD. I'd almost think you were me except I had three less siblings. Most everything else is near identical to me. However, I don't think we should push the panic button just yet. We're 1-1 in the MVC and still have time to turn things around this year. As I've said before (as have others) next year is Jim Les' Waterloo.

Dang B4L! Where did you find this one? Very nice Avatar! At the game last night I witnessed the boos, saw the meltdown, and was a little upset! BUT, to the guy that was screaming at the top of his lungs: "Jim Les you suck, I want Coach MO back" that's real classy. It's fans like you that SIT ON YOUR A$$ all game and then the only thing that you can scream about is how much you hate our coach, that make me sick! I was in a couple different sections last night and there were about 8 SIU fans in front of me and you could hear their SIU-SIU-SIU chants pretty clearly, which I thought was because they were right in front of me.Then I moved after the half, 5 sections over and was pretty embarrassed that there were 10,000 fans there last night and I could still hear those same 8 guys SIU-SIU-SIU. We need to get it together guys I mean you stand up for a dunk then right back down! Stand up for CHR$T sakes so that I can still stand and don't get told to sit down. THATS THE BOTTOM LINE! Moderators, I apologize in advance for the language. LET'S GO GET THE SHOCKS TOMORROW!

I don"t know why most of the fans this season have chosen to stay seated, it use to be when BU had a lead late in the game the whole place was up and cheering loud, another thing I noticed last night was at least 40 to 50 people in section 2 and 3 of the lower bowl got up and left with about 5 minutes left in the game, and no they did not have young kids as one was our ex mayor Ransburg .

Bravo. Well said and I totally agree. There are those who are comfy with CBI and CIT tourneys and because you want more and expect more you are labeled a hater. Mediocrity should not be our mantra. We all should expect more. We all should demand more. The SIU game was embarrassing.

JL is no DV. We deserve better.

...and this is all I was saying. I just want more than this middle-of-the-road stuff year after year.

I agree with a lot of what JD is saying. I get tired of coming on after every loss to meltdowns. I reached my personal point of negativity after this game. Some people are there after one loss. The only problem I have with your post JD is why start 4 or 5 different but similar threads. If someone wants to chime in with their feelings they could do it on the Pathetic or should Les be fired threads. I don't see why we need so many separate threads. Then it starts to look like you have an agenda and takes away from the good points you have. Again I am unhappy now also, I just think things could still turn this year and while I don't like what I am seeing we will have to see what happens the rest of the year.

Don't believe JD started the Pathetic thread...

I believe that he started this thread to clear up some questioning of his motivation on his posts.

Personally, I do believe some on here have never liked JL or maybe closer to the truth, the way he was hired. Be it because they liked Mo, or wanted a different coach or whatever. I do not think they are happy that BU is struggling/losing, but the bi-product is their belief this means that JL will be fired for it.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

The same stuff happenend late in Mo's time here....apathy starting to set in. People still care about BU but not enough to invest the energy only to be dissapointed again with another collapse.

I agree with all of these not satisfied with middle of the road posts. When we would get beat by Cincinatti or I would look at the MVC standings and we were behaind Louisville I didn't like it but I could take it but when I see us looking up at UNI, ISU,and MS its hard to swallow. The tough thing and what I am most afraid of is we may not make middle of the road this year again. Its almost too much to bear.

I know what you're saying, but IMO there are sections that are not there to stand all night. Since when do you have to stand the whole game to cheer for your team. I cheer as much as any fan there when I have something to cheer about, like a dunk, a steal or a 3 pointer. Maybe there should be a section for any fan, student or adult, who wants to stand the whole game. You mean you could hear those SIU fans over the PA announcer? Maybe our fans should drown his announcements out when the opponents call a timeout and he has to have someone escort a couple fans to better seats, or other stupid promotions.
What part of illegal don't you understand?
