This is just laughable. The crowd did not leave a 47 percent three point shooter wide open. The crowd did not blow double digit leads at home three games in a row. As a crowd you respond to what youre shown time and time again. Did the Cameron Crazies make Duke a national powerhouse or was it the other way around?

I'm not saying the crowd is responsible for losing the game...read the post again...I'm just commenting on how horribly quiet it was. Again, BEFORE everyone supposedly "knew" we were going to blow it.

If you don't accept this, then go ahead and blame it on the old codgers. By the way, those old "dudes" who dozed through those games in the theater seats at Roibertson didn't seem to adversely affect all those top 10 BU teams of the past.

That's the main reason I have never been a fan of the PCC. To me, it is a horrible place for basketball. Maybe it's the layout/ maybe it's where they sit the students. I don't know. All I know is there have been very few games where that place really rocked. I guess I was spoiled by The Fieldhouse Experience

Again, you're missing the point. Bad play and poor strategy loses games, not old dudes sleeping....agreed. But one last time let me say that my post was simply commenting on how quiet it was....regardless of the outcome of the game.

Last year we experimented with having a small student section in the normal area during winter break. Granted it wasn't very big, but how come we don't keep the first couple rows in that area for students this year. Last night I knew of a lot of students that were at the game but we were all scattered near the top of the stadium.

Not sure what your frame of reference is, unbekannt, but I've been coming to BU games since the mid 60's and have never been to a game when the crowd was so lethargic. Sometimes it's the crowd that gives energy to the team, not vice-versa.

You can expect crowds to be more calm during winter break without students and quite a few fans out of town during the holidays. This also wasn't a tourney game or a game vs ISU. As much as we want SIU to be a rivalry, it isn't much of a rivalry.

I've been going to games for a long time, and the Civic Center crowd will respond when asked. Heck, we need to be told to place our hands over our hearts for the anthem, be reminded to stand at the start of the first and second halves, and Herzog even has to say "It's the fight song timeout, so stand up." I remember the Molinarmy cheer of "Stand Up, Stand Up!" and when the scoreboard used to ask the crowd to do it.

There was always a guy in the first row (across from what is now the visitors' bench) who -- when the game was on the line -- would stand at courtside, wave his big wing-span arms for the crowd to stand, and everyone would -- even me in Section 1, Row 24, upper bowl. If someone here knows him, ask him to do that more often.

Maybe the cheerleaders could do more arm waving to get people to stand. Hmmmm....maybe a mascot could.

The return of the students will help. So would a string of wins.

I sat in front of some very nice SIU fans, and through our conversations, one of the first questions he had was "Is it always this quiet? It seems so much louder on tv." I was ashamed. Ashamed at our awful play, and ashamed that the crowd could not get into it when the game was starting to become a bit of a dogfight with 4-5 minutes to go. As much as I hate to say it, apathy is really setting in for me. This game was the one that was going to get me real excited for the conference season....

Agreed. I was watching the video stream, which was finally pretty good, and they show the crowd a lot during timeouts and I saw one guy that was asleep or maybe dead or maybe it was a pile of coats, but everyone that I saw, except the kids, were sitting on their hands doing nothing with blank looks on their faces, and this is when we were up big. I don't know if they are actually basketball fans or just needing something to go out and do for the night. Even when the cheerleaders are right in front of them cheering they just sit there with blank looks on their faces. Kind of reminds me of some movie I've seen. It was really fun to watch the double overtime loss to CU last year or the year before, every fan in the stands at CU was jumping up and having a good time. But this is the way it's always been at Bradley, I was there in the 60's and they had the chair seats across the court at Robertson and no one ever moved, they just sat there with blank looks on their faces. Waiting to go home.

The two ladies sitting right in front of me did go home...with about 5 1/2 minutes remaining in the game and the Braves up 7. One of them had a paperback book in her hand...wonder why they were even at the game in the first place? My dad said they leave at about that point in the game every game.

I guess everything is relative and subjective...you thought the crowd was fine. I thought it was ludicrous...I'd hate to see what you call a quiet crowd. And I'll forgive your silly, would be, insulting comment about dentures, which I may need in about 35 years.
