Old BU Nemesis in the News

Many will recall that the head of the NCAA Tournament selection
committee in 1982, Dave Gavitt went public on why Bradley was
not an NCAA team and why his own conference mate, Boston
College was. He came to be seen as the overriding reason that
BU was left out of the NCAA tourney.

Gavitt therefore forever enshrined himself as a target of scorn
from the BU fans who believed that their Braves should have
been in the 1982 NCAA instead of the NIT.
I think BU came out the proven winner in this arguement as
Boston College got whupped in their first game but BU went on
to virtually destroy the entire field and win the NIT.

Gavitt is being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

With me not being a Dave Gavitt fan, I have to say I really don't know.

His gesture does indeed suggest he's bragging to some girl he's trying to sweet talk at a bar...
