Of course the Big XII is a tough conference, so I have no beef with the in-conference part of Mizzou's schedule.
But look what they have done to try to assure that first year coach Mike Anderson ends up winning a few this year.
--they play a world record total of 21 (TWENTY ONE) home games this season!
--They host their own tourney that includes ultra cupcakes North Carolina A&T, Army and Stetson, to essentially guarantee a few more wins
--Despite claiming in their press release
"Our non-conference schedule will be very competitive and attractive", they have stocked their non-conference schedule with easy home games against the likes of
Lipscomb, Davidson, Stephen F. Austin, Coppin State, Southern.
--They include in their bragging a snippet about facing a team from the tough Missouri Valley. They face Evansville on their home court.
--They only have ONE road game in their entire nonconference schedule, and don't play their 2nd game outside of Missouri until January 10, 2007
--they brag about how many games they have against teams that qualified for the NCAA tourney in 2006, but Bradley plays even MORE than Mizzou's eight.
--Lastly, the news release says
"While the Tigers won't get going competitively until that exhibition-opener .......The Tigers are currently going through 6 a.m. workouts with Anderson and his staff"
