AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State guard Marcus Gilstrap scored a game-high 25 points and forward Craig Brackins added seven assists to his double-double 16 points and 12 rebounds, leading the host Cyclones (8-3) to an 87-68 non-conference men's basketball victory against Bradley (5-5) Sunday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum.

Excellent read! Now we know why Les called that timeout early in the second half during their run.

Wessler also nailed it by saying that this team is just not as talented as the one in 2006. But of course we should be doing much better as well. This should be at the very least an upper division finisher this year. Yes I know not good enough for most, but it would be much better than the alternative. You know, 3-15 and in last place!

We haven't had many teams in the last 20+ years as talented as that one. It doesn't mean we can't contend for a league title and an NCAA bid. Teams far less talented than the 2006 Braves have done both, both at BU and other schools.

Very true! But if not this year the goal is for next year to be the "make or break" season with this group. But we have to play well enough this year (if not challange for the title) to put ourselves in great shape for next year.

I agree with the article, and everyone's posts. This team does have talent. I for one am ready to forget this conference season and move on to our conference season where we are 0-0. You can't make up for non-con play, but conference play (and the new year) is a fresh start in a way. I hope we figure it out.

I am just ready to move on from all this frustration.....

Here's to hoping we defeat Drake and then go undefeated in 2010!!!

Good article but IMO JL's explanation of the TO is still very questionable.

Yes but you don't call the timeout when the IA state hadn't even scored yet during the rally. Your on a 7-0 run, Warren and Brown can't be doing to bad, let em play it out until IA State scores. More than likely, if Bradley scored another bucket, IA State would of used the timeout.
