    Couple thoughts ...

    1) I don't know what happened in the Merf situtation. I've heard rumors, and know what I believe happened based on the sources I've talked to, but credit to Merf and Les for keeping it between them. That's a long lead in to: I wonder how the players felt about Merf and his dismissal. If they're unhappy about it, could they be sandbagging? I don't know if this is the case or not, but a thought.

    2) By a similar token ... do the current players still buy in to JL's system? Do they read this board, see opposing views and find merit in those ideas?

Again .. I don't know if this is the case or not, but some thoughts to toss out there.

Well, I highly doubt the players would be sandbagging it. On court success, may eventually lead to a professional gig after their college career. I know some players do read this board but really not sure if it makes them change how they play on the court. I do know that if I was a college player not getting paid, out on the court busting my butt and happen to be struggling, the player is going to know he's struggling. Coming on this board to see his name criticized multiple times is probably going to make that player press even more and possibly struggle more. Yeah it's inevitable to criticize a player but some people take it to far.

Maybe sandbagging isn't the right word.

If the players don't believe in Jim's system, theories, or decisions, they're not going to play as hard. Why put in the effort when it doesn't produce results.

The players agreed to come play for Jim Les at BU. I'm sure they saw how BU played, and were told what kind of a system is run here. When you lose like they've been losing, you start doubting everything.

Oh, I totally agree, but we're talking 19-21 year old kids.

I don't think the players are sandbagging...

I don't know how the players felt about Merf. I never felt he made anywhere near the difference say CB did.

I think this is highly coincidental....

BUT I also think it looks bad, and it seems highly unlikely that you would trade JC for Merf on a coaching staff and think it does anything but help staff unity.

I will also say JL knows how this looks....He is a lot of things, but dummy is never ever one mentioned next to his name
