There seems to be a misconception here that permeates these discussions regarding being a real fan or not. Kool Aid drinkers are "real fans". Fans who are not very happy with direction of this program are also "real fans." I'll go out on a limb here and say that we ALL want this program to win. We ALL want to us to return to the NCAA tourney in March. We ALL want to win our home games against the likes of Loyola.

Just because some "real fans" want more from and for the program does not necessarily make them less a fan than the "real fans" who currently see nothing wrong with where we are at. Don't we all wear the same colors here?

Just don't come to the next game! That way I will have the best seats in the house. Hell, don't come at all for the rest of the year. Donate your tickets to charity, that will show Dr. Cross that you guys mean business alright! I guess I was just as upset last night after the game, but we are 5-4, lost twice at home, but it's a long season, and we BEAT ILLINOIS! This team is a TOP 3 Valley team and will finish in the TOP 3. I don't understand how people are talking right now about a 7th or 8th place finish. Right now we are the 1st place team in the Valley, and will be until a VALLEY team beats us! Ok, let me set the record straight there...

I for one couldn't stand Mo...


I like Les as an individual, but he just isn't taking the program where it should be headed at this point...


After 7 years, we should've had at least 1 championship given our current talent...


He has brought in much more talent than Mo, but with less overall results.


Yes, we may have beaten Illinois, and most will use that as a crutch all year, but not I. I expect more from this talented group and we're just not getting it.


Into Year 8, you have to start wondering after different groups of players if they aren't the problem, but the staff is.

I'm not sure J.L. is bringing in more talent , although I'm happy with the talent he is bringing in.

I'm not sure I can agree with that as we finished 4th the year the team peaked and even with all of the injuries, most of those teams showed no signs of breaking ahead of the pack.

Well I hope that was the case. However there were posters here who said some were leaving just before the end of the game, which was really perplexing in my opinion.

One thing to keep in mind, a lot of people watch the final minute or so from the concourse and the entrances to the lower bowl. So even if it looks like people are leaving, they might just be moving to nearer the exit.

I always hated those kind of people. I really got a kick out of Chuck Buescher making fun of these people rushing out to beat that terrible Peoria traffic

I guess to retort this. When there is an ENTIRE thread entitled "Time to find a new sport to watch", to me, that is jumping ship. I understand the frustration and disappointment but I will not stop going to games nor will I rip a coach, nor will I rip a player, nor will I compare past coaches to previous coaches or even rip previous coaches. 5-4 is not a good record! I will concede that, but things have been turned around before and as I look at the roster, I do not see an empty cupboard. There is a TON of talent on this team and I can assure you that Jim Les knows this!

Thank you......even he won't jump ship. Its just the frustration so many feel following a couple horrible collapses at home AND following to many years of the same results.

I bet JL is even frustrated...as is the team.....bet they say some crazy stuff also but they won't "jump ship" just like most of us won't.

Its very simple and it confounds me EVERY day as to why certain people get upset IF those views aren't in line with theirs.

A fanbase is made up of ALL types of people. Everyone of us has a differing views, expectations and tolerances. I'm glad everyone doesn't share MY views and I'm glad everyone doesn't share________(fill in the blank) views.

I think JL needs to do better.....others think he is doing fine. I'm going to say WHY he needs to do better and others are going to offer why he is doing so well.

I think he addressed it exactly as he should to all who are jumping ship. He didn't say everyone was, that they weren't fans or anything like that. He simply stated who he was addressing a post to in its title. What you did was 'twist words' and that is not accurate or fair.
