Wow- BU loses 68-65

Free throws and execution are a big problem for this team. Those things are fixable. This team did turn around last year after a bad loss at Milwaukee.

Did ISU lost at Ohio because of coaching? Have Creighton's losses this year been due to coaching?

The difference is that Creighton HAS a coach who WILL turn it around when it matters most...conf season. The same can not be said for our team. And getting back to the "it worked last year" post, if you think 21-17 and another mid-pack finish is "it worked", I'd hate to see what "it's broken" means!

I'm not even saying I disagree with you. But take a count of how many posts you have made criticizing the staff since the end of the Loyola game, and they all say the same thing. Maybe that's to be expected when we have 4-5 post game threads going at the same time.

Nice try changing the subject, but the subject was last night's game.
If we are going to talk about the last 9 years, Bradley hasn't played this way either. Note that Bradley's record is way better than ISU's over the last 9 years, they have almost the same number of wins as Creighton.
Also, ISU has not played in the NCAA since 1998, and neither of them has won an NCAA game since Jim Les has been coaching at Bradley. And needless to say, neither has played in the Sweet 16.
So if we are going to play the game where we find things about past years to complain about, I'll be happy to provide some of the successes of these past years, too.

After sleeping on the loss, a few takes:
??? Losing at home has to be made unacceptable. Like others here, I remember going to BU games growing up and always knowing they would win at home.
??? Even in a loss, there are some good things. What were they? MK??™s shooting has to be one bright spot. We still haven??™t lost a conference game yet! ISU got murdered at oHIo.
??? MK was on fire, but on defense he still seems lost and perhaps this is why he never made it back into the game and I can understand and agree with that. However, he wasn??™t the only one lost on defense last night. Loyola made numerous entry passes into the post just a couple feet from the basket and had clear lanes to the basket all night long. Maybe we should have went zone and put EM down low on D.
??? I feel like AW could get 20+ every night with a few more touches. I would like to see him be more assertive and go to the basket more.
??? Is CR our best and most consistent player right now?
??? I saw Branches and TB in the game at the same time, although I??™m not sure it helped. Does anyone have stats showing the scoring output for the different in game combinations?
??? While injuries to DD and DSE are very disappointing, I still feel we have plenty of talent to win every game on our schedule without them.
??? I believe I heard Dave and chuck Dave mention before the final play that they would not guard the in bounder. I don??™t have a problem with not guarding the in bounder there, but if that??™s the case then the inbound pass can??™t make it to half-court.
??? The refs certainly were the worst batch all year and almost seemed to have an agenda. However, BU still should have won by double digits. I thought I read where Loyola was picked to finish last in their conference.
??? I don??™t think we can blame all this on Jim. The players have to be held accountable for the some of the ridiculous turnovers in the second half. I??™m looking forward to seeing how this team responds at Iowa St. Does anyone have the video tape of Jim??™s hiring? To this day, I still see that press conference and promises flash before my eyes??¦
??? I believe one of Jim??™s strengths a s a coach is designing plays, so I would liked to have seen him use s a couple more time outs to draw up a plays towards the end of the game.

??? Finally. As a previous season ticket holder, who now lives out of state, who are the fans that are leaving early? Listening to the game, Dave remarked about all the people leaving the game with a few minutes left. Very funny comments about the Peoria traffic and such. I??™m not sure I??™ll ever be able to understand this. I can only think of a few reasons that this might be a warranted, such as a severed artery, house on fire or under nuclear attack.

Coach---A couple of observations. We have to look at the long-term result rather than one or two seasons or games, so here goes:
1. Our only real "up" was 2 great NCAA wins in 2006. Other that that, we've never finished better than 4th in the conf. in 7 years.
2. Our W-L record is distorted and padded by playing in a couple of insignificant and unimportant post season tournaments.
3. We continue to see the same problems year after year. We always seem to use the rationale that "these are fixable" but they never are fixed. Perimeter offense with no inside game - Very poor offensive rebounding due to using our bigs to screen out top and leaving the inside wide open - Terrible inconsistancy in our offense, defense, intensity level, and focus - Poor free throw shooting - Questionable substitution patterns that seem to be based on an inflexible set rotation and do not recognize that changing game situations sometime require going to the "hot hand" and benching those playing badly - "Thread the needle passes - Terrible screens.

I agree with you that all of these are "fixable" but---My question is WHEN?

I hate that incorrect #1 being thrown around. The year NIT year following the S16 was
recognized a fine coaching year for BU, a COY worthy year, revamping a team that lost a ton to graduation and 1 to the NBA into a reasonably sucessful team.
There is an absolute problem we have gained nothing since the NIT, but I hate calling that a poor year.

Jim reorganized his lineup and player rotation, and Bradley went on to play their best basketball of the season, winning their next 5 games, including road games at Wichita State and Missouri State, and big home wins over SIU and undefeated ISU.
