I don't buy into the idea that a loss can be beneficial.

Can we learn from it? Absolutely...and that's all it's good for is to learn from it.

Now if you say learning from it is beneficial then so is practice, watching game film,etc.....

I think I would rather benefit from winning

If you learn from a loss, isn't that beneficial? It's the same thing.

One learns from going through the process. The outcome of the process is irrelevant.

kind of....but then everything is beneficial, which was my point I guess......so maybe what's most beneficial is the question. I don't think a loss is the most beneficial thing for a team...

Irrelevant to the learning process. The effectiveness of placing a zone defense against a motion offense, and a team's ability to run the defense is not effected by the final score.

It may effect the final score but what you learn from it is not.

Eh, this team is just too inconsistent right now...extra effort won't do anything to alleviate that.

That being said, I'm happy with where this team is currently. 2010-2011 was always my timetable for Bradley's peak, and this team has already shown that it can play with very good teams a year before I thought they'd be able to.

It all just comes down to a matter of expectations. My expectations are for an NCAA bid in 2010-2011 and I expected inconsistent play early this year, so I'm not really that surprised over the loss. It sounds like many people's expectations shot through the roof after the UIUC game, only to have their bubble burst last night. Just give this team some more time and I doubt we'll be disappointed.

                    That is a good point.

I, too, did expect some inconsistent games this year (they hurt, even though you know they're comming), especially due to the less experienced players at the 4 and 5 spot (Brown has been a rock offensively, but the news just showed a clip do Brown getting beat on D...) It's worrisome that many mistakes seem to be the same think over and over, but this team definately has a higher ceiling than last year.

                      I agree with that.

VeveJones007 I agree with your post! What I did not like about the game was the lack of focus overall by the players. These guys should be well versed of what they should be doing during certain situations. Down by 3 with over a minute left means get the best shot possible regardless of a 3 or 2. Up by 9, slow down and work the clock, make the other team play D and try to work it for an easy shot. I'm not blaming anyone but you need to be aware of the game clock and personnel on the floor.
