  • Nebraska at Creighton

The only MVC game today (12/6) is Nebraska at Creighton in a clash of rivals from Nebraska.
Creighton is 2-4, and has a 3-game losing streak, which is pretty rare in the Dana Altman era.

Great win for Creighton and the Valley. Maybe Nebraska will be a mid-level team in the Big 12 again, but still this was a game Creighton desparately needed.

Despite the loss to Michigan, Creighton now becomes the fifth team in the Valley to beat a BCS team this year! Of course Bradley has the only win versus a ranked BCS team (Creighton should have had the other one), but to see our teams doing well against the BCS (as bad as a couple of these BCS teams might be) should help garner some attention toward the Valley come tournament time.

CU had better get somebody else going come MVC play. So far it's only been the Kenny Lawson show. Valley teams will strategize to shut him down and CU will be toast.

They did, but I don't think there is any question that Creighton is the Premier basketball program in Nebraska. They are far more consistent and successful.

This was Kenny Lawson's first ever double double - surprising given his averages..
and his 25 pts & 10 rebounds are both new career highs.
                      One glaring stat.....regards the fouls..
Creighton was 26-32 at the FT line, while Nebraska was just 9-14, and CU was just 1-10 from 3-pt range..
Looks like the refs helped out...
This brings their season average on 3-pt shooting to just 32.7%, barely ahead of the worst team in the Valley (ISU surprisingly is at just 32.4%)

BTW-- here's a column from Omama claiming that Creighton's early season struggles are all because they lost Josh Dotzler

or if it's not that, then it's all the bad injuries..(even tho none of the key players has a broken arm)
