  • ESPN Illinois teams rankings

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but the new rankings for Illinois teams on ESPN are out...Bradley is third behind Northwestern and Illinois State. Illinois is down to 6! It is a joke that Bradley is behind IL St. Its kinda funny when you read it, it talks about Bradley beating Illinois, then IL St. beating St. Bonaventure as though it is just as good.

    In State Rankings

Not trying to mock you because we are 1 ahead of you guys, but I thought you would be interested in seeing who is ranked at #6. I'll give you a hint "hail to the orange, hail to the blue...."

I'm fine with it. I'd still have UI at 4.

Behind those teams is fine and I can see NW having the murderers row of playing @ Notre Dame, @ Iowa State, and @ NC State while winning all 3, but then I really question how good any of those 3 teams really are this year.

ND hasn't exactly beaten anyone of note, Iowa State not only hasn't beaten anyone of note, but so far they have only had 1 road game and have lost 2 home games, and NC State also has only played 1 road game.

I have a lot of respect for Scott Powers, who now writes for the ESPN-Chicago site. However, IMO, he is much more informed on the topic of high school basketball than he is on college basketball in Illinois. But I think that is a reasonable ranking at this point of the season.

I can live with this ranking.

I don't mind being behind Northwestern as they have played well against some pretty good teams, especially considering they lost their best player. I also agree Illinois should still be four especially after beating Clemson. IL St. is fine for now, but in terms of who they have played and beaten it is not as good as us. It should be more quality wins than quantity in my opinion. I guess they were rated above us early, and haven't done anything to lose it yet is why they are still above us. Alright I accept this for now, hopefully we will earn a higher ranking the rest of the way! Well I hope both are playing well and IL St. is undefeated when we play in conference so it will make a victory even sweeter!

pssst. I agree with you on the rankings. Only quality team we have played so far is St. Bonnies.

I as well am hoping we are still undefeated when we play you. We will have swept wichita st. and SIU at that point along with wins at home over creighton and UNI.

My guess though is that if we were 21-0 by the time we play you guys, even BU fans of all would have to admit we were legit at that point. I would imagine that we would be somewhere around #20-25.

That's fine with me, another chance to play a ranked team would be good for the resume. I think IL St. is talented, just that the non-con schedule is weak. I believe they could potentially beat anyone in the conference as could we. Haha but I didn't look at when they played, and that would be a very tall order for any team to go through that stretch undefeated in the Valley! All the way til January 30 ! As much as I think these are two of the top teams in the Valley, I could only dream of a start like that for Bradley, we would be 18-2 at that point with several quality wins
