BYU lost its first game tonight at 4-2 Utah State by 10 points. Tavernari and Fredette combined to shoot 6 for 26 and Utah State made 10 more FT's. Everything else was pretty even.
I missed it... but reading a recap at CBSSports says BAM got a T in the 1st half for nothing... well, there was a loud sound coming from the bench??? So UIUC got a T? I don't get it. Maybe Bert will fill us in.
the quote from the article:
"When 5-foot-9 Andre Young squeezed past Tisdale, Illinois' 7-1 center, for a layup, a loud noise that sounded like a coach's clipboard hitting the floor came from the Illini bench. Illinois coach Bruce Weber was quickly called for a technical foul by official Bryan Kersey. Weber was stunned. "I didn't do anything. What did I do?" he shouted as Kersey moved to the other side of the court."
Yeah it also has some bizarre minute affect on SOS of Opponents right? PLus there's some affect of home v. road in the RPI. THe math is stupidly convoluted.
What I was trying to get at though is that when our opponents play it doesn't matter which one wins, the affect will be the same.... Right? At least as far as straight SOS is concerned. I think. Do I sound confident?
I think it technically matters, because with home/road coefficients, adding 1.4 wins for a road win and 0.6 for a home win, there can exist a tiny difference where it's better for that 1.4 to be added to one team than the 0.6 to the other team.
