  • Update on Coach Mo

I saw Jim Molinari while he was in Peoria this past week, and we had a chance to talk.
He mainly focused on how this is such a busy time of the year for him, working 60-80 hours a week, not much time off.
He is on the road constantly, doing much of that driving.
Their coaching staff has been a man short as one of their assistants left to take an assistant job at Utah State.
But it is a thankless and never ending job to get to so many AAU events, and keep in contact with all the kids you are recruiting and trying to see those you're not.

He talks frequently with Brandyn Heemskerk, and Brandyn is doing well.
Mo also still has a lot of interest in BU basketball and always wants to get caught up as much as possible. He was also pretty familiar with XC because of the Minnesota connection, and he wasn't sure how much XC was going to help BU this season anyway. Might just be best for XC to get a lot of playing time at Yuba.

It was really nice to see Mo, he was looking well, and is still very proud of all his kids and how they're doing.
BTW- Coach Mo's oldest son just broke his leg in a freak injury while training to run cross country this fall, and this effectively ends his son's athletic career, as he has broken his leg before and this one will take too long to heal to expect to get back before the season ends. Get well quick Little Mo, but I see a couple of Jim's other kids frequently at sport-events that my kids are at.

Minnesota is picked to be at the bottom of the Big Ten but Mo is optimistic they can get some big minutes out of a couple newcomers and surprise people.
